Travel Advisory on A(H1N1) Influenza
2009-05-19

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Malaysia wishes to advise that all Malaysians planning to travel overseas especially visits to the affected destinations, namely the countries with the most cases reported  i.e. United States, Mexico, Canada, Spain and Britain, to take extra precautionary measures by:

 1.         Deferring all non-essential travel to the affected destinations;

 2.         Postponing their travel plan to hardest hit places in the 5 above mentioned countries;

 3.         Consulting their physician for the seasonal flu vaccination, should overseas travel be necessary;

 4.         Obtaining the latest information on the outbreak and new affected destinations prior to departure;

5.         Adhering to the local health guidelines including movement restrictions or preventive recommendations at their intended destination;

6.         Avoiding contacts with affected persons;

7.         Covering and protecting themselves with facial masks;

8.         Ensuring personal hygiene with the regular use of detergent and water or alcohol based hand gel;

9.         Contacting the local health authority when influenza like illness is suspected on oneself and as much as possible avoiding contact with other persons by confining themselves to their hotel room; and

10.       Informing the nearest Malaysian Missions, their temporary address and contact numbers while abroad for facilitation of further assistance in times of need.

Malaysian Investment Mission in Egypt

Malaysian investments in Egypt were discussed when the Minister of Investment of Egypt, Dr. Mahmoud Mohieldin met members of the Malaysian mission currently on visit to Egypt from 16 - 19 November 2008.

 

The missions includes the Senior Officials of the Malaysian Investment Development Authority (MIDA) and directors of six giant Malaysian companies of automotives, group transport buses, construction and building, petroleum and gas, plastic industries, industrial development, pharmaceuticals and food stuff.

Increase In Tourist From Egypt, Says Azalina

CAIRO, Oct 29 (Bernama) -- The number of tourists visiting Malaysia from Egypt in the first nine months this year increased to 8,550 compared with 5,163 for the corresponding period last year, Tourism Minister Datuk Seri Azalina Othman Said said Wednesday.

Describing the increase as significant, she said Malaysia recognised Egypt as one of its emerging tourist markets.

A total of 7,603 Egyptians visited Malaysia last year compared with 5,682 in 2006, Azalina, who is on a sales mission here, told a news conference.

Registration of Malaysian Citizen residing in Egypt

Malaysian Citizen presently residing in Egypt are required to register with the Embassy of Malaysia in Cairo. The Registration Form can be obtained free of charge at the Embassy's Consular Section located at 2nd. Floor. This registration is compulsory as stipulated under the Article 25(2) of the Federal Constitution of Malaysia.


Malaysian Travel Document (Emergency Certificate-EC)

For the holder of Malaysian Travel Document (Emergency Certificate)issued by the Embassy of Malaysia in Egypt, Visa must be applied prior to any travel to any country in the world. The Malaysian Emergency Certificate (EC) is not recognized by some countries. You are strongly advised to check with the Embassy of the country you wish to travel before the journey. Holders are also required to get the endorsement of Exit Permit at the Egyptian Immigration Authority (Mogamma) at Tahrir Square, Cairo as soon as the EC is delivered.
