Technical Advisory Service Visit to West Africa
A visit to West African countries namely, Ghana, Togo and Benin was conducted by Mr. Johari Minal, Science Attache of the Embassy of Malaysia in Cairo from 13 to 24 July 2008. Currently, Mr. Johari Minal is attached at the Malaysian Palm Oil Board (MPOB) Regional Office, Cairo and he is responsible to provides various technical services through scientific seminars, technical visits and hands-on technical assistance. In general, the MPOB Regional Offices around the world was established with the aim to facilitate and increase utilization of Malaysian palm oil by enhancing technical understanding and general awareness of palm oil and its products. |

Majlis perasmian Bangunan Asrama MARA telah disempurnakan oleh Y.B. Menteri Pembangunan Usahawan dan Koperasi, Dato’ Noh bin Omar pada 7 Jun 2008. Bangunan Asrama MARA yang beralamat di No.17, Sezostrice Street, Iskandariah telah dibeli dan diubahsuai dengan kos bernilai USD$ 3.9 juta. Bangunan 11 tingkat yang dapat menempatkan lebih kurang 154 orang pelajar tajaan MARA ini juga akan dijadikan sebagai ruang pejabat, dewan serbaguna, ruang pameran, rumah pegawai, dan kafetaria yang berasaskan Malaysia Kitchen. Pembelian bangunan ini diharapkan dapat menyelesaikan masalah penempatan pelajar-pelajar tajaan MARA di sana. | |

D8 4th Working Group Meeting on Energy
CAIRO, June 3 (Daily News Egypt): As oil prices continue to rise and the global energy crisis gains momentum, Egypt turned its attention this week on ways the Developing Eight (D8) member states can cooperate to tackle these issues.
Minister of Petroleum Sameh Fahmi met with Dipo Alam, secretary general of the D8 organization, to discuss ways member states can cooperate in the domain of petroleum as well as ways to attract investments in oil, gas and renewable energy projects.
The D8 — which includes Egypt, Nigeria, Indonesia, Malaysia, Iran, Turkey, Pakistan and Bangladesh — held a two-day workshop on Monday, hosted by Egypt, to discuss new and renewable energy issues and their impact on sustainable development. |
