COURTESY CALL ON H. E AMBASSADOR BY CHEIKH MAMADOU ABIBOULAYE DIEYE, MAYOR OF SAINT-LOUIS, 19 NOVEMBER 2009

On Thursday, 19 November 2009 a delegation from the Mayor’s office of the City of St. Louis, Senegal paid a courtesy call on H. E. Ambassador Dato’ Jamaiyah M. Yusof.  The delegation was led by H. E. Cheikh Mamadou Abiboulaye Dieye, Mayor of St. Louis.  He was accompanied by Mr. Amadou DIAW, President of International School of Management and the Chairman of the Executive Committee for the celebration of the 350 years of Saint-Louis, Mr. Abdoulaye DIANE, Director of International Relations of International School of Management and Madame Ba Nafissatou Diagne, Assistant to the Mayor of Saint-Louis.

The courtesy call lasted for about 40 minutes where H. E. Ambassador and H. E Mayor of St. Louis had fruitful discussions on various issues of common interests.  The Mayor also shared his vision of turning the historic City of St. Louis into a modern, vibrant city through his “St. Louis Vision 2020”, adopted from Malaysia’s vision 2020.

During the course of the discussion, H. E Mayor of St. Louis extended the invitation for H. E. Ambassador to attend the opening ceremony of the 350th Anniversary Celebration of the City of St. Louis.  The Mayor also extended invitation for the Embassy to participate in the year long celebration by organizing a ‘Malaysian Week” which will be used to showcase Malaysia’s achievements in development, economy and tourism.

GATHERING FOR MEMBERS OF MALAYSIAN ALUMNI, 19 NOVEMBER 2009

A gathering was organized at the official Residence (Rumah Malaysia) on Thursday, 19 November 2009.  The gathering saw 14 members of the Malaysian Alumni, whose members are Senegalese nationals that attended Malaysian Technical Cooperation programme (MTCP) courses in Malaysia as well as Senegalese that have studied in Malaysia.

The gathering was aimed to get various views and feedbacks on ways that could be explored to promote Malaysia in Senegal as well as to promote cooperations in various fields between Malaysia and Senegal.

During the course of discussion, positive feedbacks and suggestions were received from the members of the Alumni which could be used to enhance bilateral relations between both countries.

The one hour discussion ended with Hi-Tea being served, prepared by the Residence.  The Alumni members were delighted for the chance to savour once again Malaysian delicacies such as “The Tarik”, “Kuih Bom”, “Mee Goreng”, “Mee Hoon Goreng” to reminisce their sweet memories in Malaysia.

On Thursday, 15 October 2009 a delegation from the International Islamic University Malaysia (IIUM)paid a courtesy call on H. E Ambassador Dato’ Jamaiyah M. Yusof.  The IIUM delegation was led by YBhg. Prof Dato’ Seri Dr. Syed Arabi Idid, Rector of IIUM.  He was accompanied by YBhg. Dato’ Hamidon Abdul Hamid, Director of Special Function, Assoc. FAREWELL AND WELCOMING LUNCH AT MALAWAKIL DAKAR

A farewell and welcoming lunch was held on Thursday, 8 October 2009 at the Embassy hosted by the Locally Recruited Staff.  The farewell lunch was organized to bid farewell to Mr. Ahmad Kamrizamil Mohd. Riza, who is posted back to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in Putrajaya.

 At the sametime, the lunch was organized to welcome additional members of Malawakil Dakar, Mr. Jeremiah Oliver Jitos who is taking over from Mr. Zamil as well as Ms. Sukinah Kambali our new PA.

FAREWELL HIGH-TEA FOR FIRST SECRETARY, 04 OCTOBER 2009

The hi-tea was held at the Official Residence, 4 October 2009 hosted by H.E Ambassador Dato’ Jamaiyah M.Yusof.  The purpose of the hi-tea is to farewell Mr.Ahmad Kamrizamil Mohd Riza, First Secretary Malawakil Dakar who will be leaving to Malaysia on 09 October 2009.


Among the guests were H.E Ambassador of Thailand, H.E Ambassador of Indonesian, Mr. Zamil’s friends’ and Malaysians in Dakar.

EID-FITRI HI-TEA AT RUMAH MALAYSIA, DAKAR,20 SEPTEMBER 2009

The Eid-Fitri Hi-Tea (Open House) was held at Rumah Malaysia, organized by HE Ambassador Dato' Jamaiyah M. Yusof to celebrate 1st Syawal. Number of guests from diplomatic circles, friends of the Embassy, home-based staff, local staff and Malaysians residing in Dakar attended the hi-tea. Guest were served nasi himpit,lemang,ketupat,rendang,kuah lodeh,nasi minyak, kari kambing,  desserts and several type of raya’s cookies prepared by Residence’s kitchen.

New Counsellor/Head of Chancery to Embassy of Malaysia, Dakar
The embassy would like to inform that Mr. Jeremiah Oliver Jitos has arrived in Dakar to assume his post as the new Counsellor and Head of Chancery. He replaced Mr. Ahmad Kamrizamil Mohd Riza who returned to Malaysia. He reported duty at the Embassy on Thursday, 8 October 2009.

A (H1N1) VIRUS
Due to the global SWINE FLU situation, All Malaysians in the Senegal, Mali, Burkina Faso, The Gambia and Cape Verde are advised to take necessary pre-caution to protect from the swine flu disease. Please be alert to all advisories concerning swine flu commissioned by the World Health Organisation and as well as the Department of Health of of the host country. NOTICE TO ALL MALAYSIAN RESIDENTS/VISITORS TO SENEGAL, MALI, BURKINA FASO, THE GAMBIA AND CAPE VERDE ON THE A(H1N1) FLU - (SWINE FLU) Due to concerns on the recent A(H1NI) flu cases, Malaysians who are residing in the Senegal, Mali, Burkina Faso, The Gambia and Cape Verde and visiting these countries, are advised as follows: 1. Recognizing the symptoms of possible(H1N1) flu: - Fever higher than 39 C (102.2 F) - Dry cough and running nose - Sore muscles and headache - Nausea or diarrhea 2. How to prevent from being infected by A(H1N1) flu: - Avoid contact with sick people with respiratory symptoms - Avoid attending mass events - Wash your hands constantly - Cover your nose and mouth when you cough or sneeze. - Avoid greeting anyone with a handshake or a kiss (please wash your hands after each handshake) - Use masks in public places, especially enclosed spaces. - Do not take drugs not prescribed by a doctor - Follow the HOST government’s advices on preventive measures. 3. What should you do if you think you have been infected by the A(H1N1) flu: - If you have serious symptoms such as difficulty in breathing, immediately seek medical help at the nearest hospital. - If you have mild flu symptoms, stay home and avoid going to work or other public places. - Wearing face masks is highly recommended for those who regularly need to have close contacts with members of the publics. However, there is no need for the general public to wear masks. 4. Functioning of the The Embassy of Malaysia in Dakar, Senegal remains open at its normal operating hours except during weekends and designated public holidays. Malaysian who are residing in the Senegal, Mali, Burkina Faso,The Gambia and Cape Verde and visiting the above countries can contact the Embassy at 00 221 33 825 8935/36 (office hours) or the Duty Officers as follow: Head of Chancery : 00 221 77 638 6326 Third Secretary : 00 221 77 784 3743 (After office hours/holidays) or email us at: maldakar@kln.gov.my for any advice and/or assistance regarding the A(H1N1) flu.
