MTCP Alumni Reunion Dinner

The Embassy organized the MTCP Alumni Reunion Dinner at the Orient Club on 21 December 2009. It was attended by MTCP alumni members, officials from the Syrian State Planning Commission and Ministry of Foreign Affairs. The gathering not only provided the opportunity for the Embassy to update alumni members on the latest development in Malaysia but also afford the premise for members to keep in touch and network among themselves. The Embassy hopes to see the participation of more alumni members in future events especially those from outside Damascus.

International Charity Bazaar

Perwakilan participated in the annual International Charity Bazaar organized by the Diplomatic Club of Syria on 4 December 2009 at the Dedeman Hotel. The proceeds from the bazaar would be used to assist the various charities and organizations in Syria such as those involved with orphans, mental and cancer patients and many others.

7th International Fair of Tourism Travel and Trips (ATB 2009)

Malaysia participated in the 7th International Fair of Tourism Travel and Trips (ATB 2009) that was held at the International Fairs ground in Damascus from 3 – 6 November 2009. Malaysian was represented by the Tourism Malaysia Jeddah Office and the Sarawak Cultural Center. Visitors to the Malaysian booth were exposed to the various aspects of Malaysian culture and lifestyles.

MIDA’s Cross Border Investment Mission to Syria

Datuk Jalilah Baba, Director General of MIDA, led the Cross Border Investment mission to Damascus from 31st October – 4 November 2009, comprising MIDA officials and private sector delegation. The objective of the mission is not only to inform the Syrian private sector of opportunities available in Malaysia but also to provide the platform for the Malaysian private sector to network with their Syrian potential partners. Aside the seminar, meetings with the officials from chambers and relevant ministries, the delegation also visited the Adra Industrial City.

YB Foreign Minister Visited Quneitra, Golan Heights
2009-06-04


The Honourable Datuk Anifah Aman, Minister of Foreign Affairs, took the opportunity  at the sidelines of the 36th Session of the Council of Foreign Ministers of OIC in Damascus, to visit the town of Quneitra, a town that was almost completely and systematically destroyed by the Israeli army before their withdrawal in June 1974. The Honorable Minister was personally briefed by the Governor of Quneitra, HE Riyad Hijab, and taken around the town which now lies in the demilitarized United Nations Disengagement Observer Force (UNDOF) Zone between Syria and Israel, a short distance from the de facto border between the two countries.
