The Deputy Head of Mission of the Malaysian-led International Monitoring Team (IMT), Brig.Gen. Dato' Zainal Abdul Rahman visited the Consulate General office on Friday, March 16.
Brig. Gen. Dato' Zainal was accompanied by two other IMT officials, Lt.Col. Nazeri Ismail and En.Noor Hisham Rosle. The three officials, who are based with the IMT Headquaters in Cotabato City, was on a two-day visit to Davao City.
They were received and met by Consul General Hussain Bakar and Vice Consul Anwar Mahmud.
The 60-member IMT is headed by Maj.Gen.Dato' Mohd Ismail Ahmad Khan. Fourty-six Malaysian officials are currently assigned to the Team. Other countries represented are Brunei, Libya and Japan.
Their primary task is to monitor the 2001 Ceasefire Agreement between the Government of the Philippines and the Moro Islamic Liberation Front (MILF).
The first deployment of the IMT in Mindanao was in October 2004.
