Visit to Maritime Training Institute at Karachi Harbour

On Friday, 3rd July 2009, the Chairman of 'M' International Group, Captain S. Kamal A. Mahmoodi invited the Consul General of Malaysia in Karachi, Mr. Mohd. Khalid Abdul Razak and the Consulate Officials to visit the Maritime Training Institute and to witness the state of the art ship handling simulator - only of its kind in Pakistan and the overall institute facilities.

SPB Yang di-Pertuan Agong Birthday Celebration in Karachi

 KARACHI, 6th June 2009 - Despite summer holidays in Pakistan, all Malaysians residing in Karachi along with Locally Recruited Staff (LRS) gathered at the Malaysian Consulate here to celebrate The Birthday of SPB Yang di-Pertuan Agong hosted by the Consul General and Madam Aniza Khalid. The auspicious occasion began at 8.45 pm with the recital of Doa, followed by the raising of 'Jalur Gemilang' along with singing of the National Anthem, 'Negaraku', followed by remarks by the Consul General and Cake Cutting Ceremony.

Bon Voyage to Mr. Ahmad Ghafri Hampden, Vice Consul (Consular & Immigration)

Specialised Marketing Mission to Pakistan organised by MATRADE in Karachi

With the objectives to explore business opportunities in targeted markets and to promote exports of Malaysian products and services as well as to ensure the full use of Malaysia-Pakistan Closer Economic Partnership Agreement (MPCEPA), the Malaysia External Trade Development Corporation (MATRADE), organised a 'Specialised Marketing Mission to Pakistan' (Karachi, Islamabad & Lahore) from 23rd May to 3rd June 2009. The mission was initiated with the close collaboration of the Consulate General of Malaysia in Karachi and the High Commission of Malaysia in Islamabad, Islamic Republic of Pakistan. 8 members delegation from 6 Malaysian companies participated in the mission. 

 


       

 On 25th May 2009, the mission kicked off with the Networking Reception hosted by Karachi Chamber of Commerce and Industry (KCCI). The Consul General of Malaysia in Karachi, Mr. Mohd. Khalid Abdul Razak in his welcoming remark expressed his thanks and gratitude to KCCI Business Members headed by its President, Mr. Anjum Nisar for their assistance and coorperation in strengthening the business networking between the two brotherly countries since the independence of Malaysia in 1957. Among others, he also thanked Mr. Md. Zainuddin A. Jalil, Malaysian Trade Commissioner for South Asia based in Chennai, India, Mr. Syed Sahibul Bahri Syed Abdul Hamid, Assistant Manager, MATRADE and Malaysian business delegation for participating in the mission to expand trade and economic coorperation between Malaysia and Pakistan.

With effective from 1st July 2009, all fixed telephone lines
and fax numbering in Karachi and Lahore will be changed from seven
to eight digit series.

Therefore, please add
the number "3" to all
existing seven-digit numbers before dailling, meanwhile the digit "9"
to be added in all existing numbers starting from "9".

Please note that the numbers are being
added to existing numbers only and not to country and area codes.

Daylight Saving Time

As per the decision of
the Government of Pakistan, clocks in the country will be advanced by an hour (GMT+6), effective from 15th April 2009, in a bid to make
the maximum use of daylight and conserve energy.

Malaysian Visa on Arrival
(VOA) for Pakistani Nationals has been suspended and no longer available effective from 1st August 2008. All Pakistani Nationals planning to travel to Malaysia for any purpose will have to apply for Visa through appointed Drop Box Agencies of the Consulate General of Malaysia in Karachi or from the High Commission of Malaysia in Islamabad, Islamic Republic of Pakistan.

Registration of Malaysians Residing in the Province of Balochistan & Sindh
All Malaysians residing in the Province of Balochistan & Sindh (Karachi) are advised to register with the Consulate General of Malaysia in Karachi. The failure to do so may cause difficulties for the Consulate General to provide assistance or protection in the event of emergencies or may
lead to the loss of citizenship under Article 25 (2) of the Constitution of Malaysia. The registration form is available at the
Consulate or can be downloaded here. The completed form should be e-mailed, faxed or mailed to the Consulate General of Malaysia in Karachi.
