The Consulate General of Malaysia celebrated the 51st National Day of Malaysia by hosting a reception with the theme "Unity, the Core of Success" at the one of the leading hotels in Karachi on Sunday, 31st August 2008.

On the auspicious occasion, H.E Mr. Nisar Ahmed Khuro, Speaker, Provincial Assembly of Sindh attended as the Guest of Honour representing the Sindh Government. The other guests were H.E Mrs. Shazia Marri, Minister of Information of Sindh, H.E Mr. Muhammad Raza Haroon, Minister of IT of Sindh, H.E Mrs. Nargis N.D. Khan, Minister of Social Affairs of Sindh, H.E Mrs. Nasreen Jalil, Deputy City Mayor of Karachi, the Diplomats Corps, Representatives of Trade Mission, Official from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (Camp Office), Government officials, Pakistani friends, media & journalists, businessmen and all Malaysian community in Karachi.  

The reception began with the singing of the national anthem of Malaysia followed by the national anthem of the Islamic Republic of Pakistan by the choir of the Consulate children's and a cake cutting ceremony. Guests were served with sumptuous Malaysian and Pakistani dishes with varieties of Malaysian fruits which were specially flown by Federal Agriculture Marketing Authority (FAMA), Malaysia to Karachi for this special occasion.

The memorable occasion portray the strong bond of fraternity and cooperation existed between the Government and people of Malaysia and Islamic Republic of Pakistan.
