2ND MALAYSIAN EDUCATION FAIR 2009

 

Following the success of the First Malaysian Education Fair held last year 2008, the Embassy of Malaysia is delighted once again supported the Google Educational Foundation to promote the vast and quality higher education opportunities available in Malaysia through its “2nd Malaysian Education Fair 2009”.  It  was held from 5th – 8th April 2009 in Hotel Malla, Lainchaur, Kathmandu started from 10.00 am to 7.00 p.m.  H.E. Dato’ Ilankovan Kolandavelu was invited to be the Chief  Guest to  inaugurated the event.

6th Asia Pacific Regional Scouts Leaders Summit , 1-5 March 2009

The 6th Asia Pacific Regional Scouts Leaders Summit was held from 1-5 March 2009 at Hotel De L’ Annapurna, Kathmandu, Nepal. In conjunction with the Summit, a dinner - “Jamuan Malaysia” was hosted by H.E. Dato’ Ilankovan Kolandavelu, on 3rd March 2009 at Soaltee Crown Plaza mainly to promote and entice the Scouts Associations from Asia Pacific countries to attend 3 scouts conferences which Malaysia will be hosting in October 2009.  Scouts Association members from 24 countries gathered in Nepal. Malaysian Delegation was headed by Y.Bhg. Dato’ Seri Dr. Haji Shafie Haji Mohd. Salleh, Ketua Pengakap Negara ( also the former Minister of Higher Education of Malaysia ).  The function was also used to promote the Malaysia Tourism Sector, Higher Education in Malaysia and Malaysia My Second Home Programme

AWON “GET-TO-GATHER” BRUNCH PROGRAMME

Y.Bhg. Datin Kala Ilankovan as Chairman of PERWAKILAN, and also an active member of Active Women of Nepal (AWON) hosted a  “Get to-Gather“ Brunch  on Thursday, 26th March 2009 for members of AWON and PERWAKILAN at the  Residence of Ambassador of Malaysia, Bhaisepati, Kathmandu.   AWON was formed 50 years ago to facilitate interaction, friendship and understanding between expatriates and Nepali women in Kathmandu. This group decided through their endeavors to assist and make a difference to the lives of disadvantaged women and needy children in the many diverse communities of Nepal.  To name a few, their activities included fundraising, education and skill training, social welfare projects, weekly social coffee mornings and lunch, guest speakers, demonstration or  a planned excursion.  Prior to the brunch, Mdm. Catherine Meyer, President of AWON, in her welcoming speech, thanked the PERWAKILAN Chairman for hosting  the gathering. The brunch was kicked off by President of PERWAKILAN by introducing the PERWAKILAN ladies, our special sumptuous menu -Malaysian Nasi Lemak with Antichoke Sambal, Satay with peanut sauce and  Roti Canai. The gathering was attended by 60 members of AWON. The AWON members enjoyed the delicious Malaysian menu. Some of them were enquiring whether the cuisine could be obtained in Nepal.

Annual Dinner and the Annual General Meeting of the MTCP Alumni Nepal

The Embassy of Malaysia organized an annual dinner on 19 December 2008 at The Everest Hotel on the occasion of Annual General Meeting (AGM) of the MTCP Alumni Nepal. The programme was attended by a total of 65 persons which included former MTCP participants and their spouses, embassy staff, the Vice-Chairman of the National Planning Commission, the Chief Commissioner of the Public Service Commission, senior most Joint Secretary of and Chief of Protocol as representatives from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, President of the Nepal-Malaysia Chamber of Commerce and Industry and President of the Nepal-Malaysia Friendship Association. The programme was open only for the paid members of Alumni.

Inauguration of the exhibition of paintings

H.E  Dato’ Ilankovan Kolandavelu was invited as the Chief Guest to inaugurate the exhibition of paintings by the young but talented artist. Ms. Aditi Chakraborty Sadhu, entled “Contemplating Nature” on 13th March 2009 at The Art Shop Galerry at Durbar Marg, Kathmandu. Ms. Aditi’s  is a woman of creativity, well exposed to literature and culture.  She merged the works of  greats poets and writers into modern, contemporary paintings

Launching ceremony of Perodua Viva cars in Nepal, on 2 Aug. 2008, at Radission Hotel, Kathmandu.

Perodua VIVA Malaysian made cars were successfully launched in Nepal by Nemlink International Trade (P) Ltd., an authorized dealer of PERODUA cars in Nepal. Ambassador of Malaysia, as Special Guest, has rendered a short speech followed by Dato’ Syed Abdul Hafiz, Chairman of Perodua sales  in Malaysia.  About 350 guest including car dealers, reporters and businessmen attended the function. Wide media coverage both in the print and electronic media was made.
