Bilateral Visit of the Minister of Tourism and Civil Aviation of Nepal to Malaysia

The
Minister of Tourism and Civil Aviation of Nepal undertook a bilateral visit to Malaysia
from 15-19 December 2009.The visit was
at the initiation of Y.B. Minister of Tourism Malaysia. The purpose of the visit
is to enhance bilateral cooperation in the tourism and civil aviation sectors.One
of the highlight of the programme is the Minister’s visit to the Malaysia
Airport Berhad Head Office at KLIA. The Government of Nepal is keen to seek the
cooperation of the Malaysia Airport Berhad, (MAB) to upgrade the TribhuvanInternationalAirport, Kathmandu.The Nepalese Minister was briefed about the
technical and managerial capacity and capability of MAB in management of international
airports not only in Malaysia
but also in other countries such as India, Turkey etc. The Nepalese
Minister was very impressed with the professionalism shown by MAB and has
invited MAB to explore the potential to upgrade and manage the international
Airport, Kathmandu on behalf of the Government
of Nepal.

ACTIVE WOMEN OF NEPAL (AWON) CHRISTMAS BAZAAR
2009-12-15 PERWAKILAN Nepal took part in AWON X’mas Bazaar
which is the major fundraiser for the Active Women of Nepal (AWON)
organization. The Chairman of PERWAKILAN is actively involved in this
organization.Amongst its many projects,
AWON has funded scholarships for under privileged girls, and skills as well as
literacy training for poor women.The rental charged by AWON for the table will go
towards funding of AWON projects.The Christmas
Bazaar was held on Saturday 5th Dec. 2009 at Hyatt Regency Hotel,
Boudha from 9.00 a.m. to 4.00 p.m.PERWAKILAN
sold many of its handicraft from Malaysia which were made from bamboo such as
Bamboo Table Mat, Bamboo Night Lamp, Pandan Bags, Batik Kaftan, Maggie Mee,
Malaysian cookies e.g. Biskut Arab & Biskut Kelapa Berchoklat done by
PERWAKILAN members together with many other items. Many vendors from various
businesses attended the AWON Bazaar which was held once annually.
Latihan Mendaki Alpine di Gunung Yala (5,732m) Nepal oleh Persatuan Jurulatih Rekreasi Malaysia (PJRM)
2009-12-07 Delegasi seramai 16 orang jurulatihdaripada Persatuan Jurulatih Rekreasi
Malaysia dengan sokongan Bahagian Pembangunan Sukan Kementerian Belia dan Sukan
telah menganjurkan Program Latihan Mendaki Gunung Yala setinggi 5,732m) dari 17
November hingga 1 Disember 2009.Latihan
tersebut adalah bertujuan untuk persediaan mendaki ke puncak yang tertinggi di
dunia iaitu Gunung Everest pada tahun 2010 akan datang.Satu jamuan makan tengah hari telah diadakan
di Pejabat Kedutaan Besar Malaysia
sekembalinya rombongan mereka dari misi tersebut pada 2 Disember 2009 sebelum
berlepas pulang ke Malaysia.
Family Day Celebrations 2009 of Embassy of Malaysia, Kathmandu, Nepal
2009-12-03 His Excellency Dato’ Ilankovan Kolandavelu, the
Ambassador of Malaysia to Nepal organized a Family Day of the Embass of
Malaysia on 14 November 2009 at Godavari Village Resort, Kathmandu.The programme started at 10.30 am with the
fun games including Tombola and Musical Chair and ended with lunch and prize
distribution ceremony at 3.30 p.m.Datin
Kala Ilankovan handed over the prize to the winners.Likewise, His Excellency Dato’ Ilankovan
awarded one of the LRS with “Best Employee of the Year – 2009”.The programme was attended by HBS and family,
LRS, Malaysian members of the United Nations Mission for Nepal (UNMIN) and the
Executive Committee Members of MTCP Alumni Nepal chapter
The
delegation of 21 officials from Malaysia Airport Berhad headed by Haji Maarif
bin Maarof paid a courtesy call on His Excellency Dato’ Ilankovan Kolandavelu,
Ambassador of Malaysia to Nepal on 22 October 2009.The delegation was on a mount climbing
expedition to Mt.Kalapatthar and Everest
Base Camp from 22 October 2009 to 10 November 2009.His Excellency Dato’ Ilankovan hosted a
luncheon to the delegation on 9 November 2009 at the Embassy.

Dato’ Ilankovan Kolandavelu, Ambassador of Malaysia was invited by the Head of
United Nation Mission to Nepal (UNMIN) to visit the UNMIN cantonment at
Biratnagar that has been housing the members of the Maoists People Liberation
Army (PLA) as per the 2006 Peace Agreement between the seven party alliance of
Nepal and the Maoists.The PLA rebels
are placed temporarily there until their integration into the security
forces/society.About 14 officers from
MINDEF had or currently participating as Arms Monitor for UNMIN.The Ambassador accompanied by Datin Kala and
Lt. Col. Shaari bin Baba (Chief of Staff to UNMIN) visit the cantonment to
understand the problems better.
