Batik Fashion Show in Manama, 7 April 2009

With the aim to promote Malaysia in this part of the world, ‘Colours N Flavours of Malaysia in Bahrain’ with the theme ‘The Colorful Batik of Malaysia’ was held on 7th April 2009 at Rumah Malaysia, the Official Residence of the Ambassador of Malaysia in  Bahrain. The reception was hosted by Datin Zarinah Hussin, wife of the Ambassador of Malaysia, HE  Dato’ Syed Sultan Idris and also the Chairperson of The Malaysian Ladies Association of Malaysia, PERWAKILAN Manama. The ‘Colours N Flavours of Malaysian in Bahrain’ was a very colourful programme organized by the Embassy of Malaysia in Bahrain to showcase the Malaysian culture and traditions.

 

In her opening remarks, Datin Zarinah touched on the prospect of tourism sector in Malaysia which has evolved into one of the premier destinations in Asia. She also highlighted the versatility of Malaysia Batik which has long been part of Malaysian culture and heritage and that Malaysia as the home for batik is renowned to be a favourite with the fashion conscious people. Prior to the catwalk, Datin Zarinah displayed the varieties of batik designs and products and demonstrated the various ways of wearing the batik sarong.

 

Highlight of the programme was a Batik Fashion Show which displayed 30 batik of traditional and contemporary outfits of personal collection of Datin Zarinah from various boutique in Malaysia. Some 19 ladies of various nationalities took part in the catwalk. Prior to that, the guests were entertained with a welcoming dance of “Randai” by Azzah and Aizzaty Sultan.

 

The Guest of Honour was Shaikha Wesal bint Mohammed Al Khalifa, the patron of Jussor programme (the Ladies Assosciation of the  the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Bahrain) who is also the wife of Shaikh Khalid Al Khalifa, the Foreign Minister of Bahrain.  About 100 guests attended the show which comprised of the members of Jusoor Programme,   spouses of the Ambassadors in Bahrain, the high-society ladies, corporate members and members of the local print and electronic media.

 

The event was also covered by Bahrain TV, a popular provider of entertainment and information to the Arab viewers.

THE MESSAGE WAS CONVEYED TO THE PRIME MINISTER BY MALAYSIAN AMBASSADOR TO BAHRAIN DATO’ SYED SULTAN IDRIS TODAY.

VISA FOR MALAYSIANS VISITITNG BAHRAIN
Malaysians visiting Bahrain will be issued Visa on Arrival for two (2) weeks stay. Visa fee is BD5/-.

MALAYSIANS RESIDING IN MANAMA, KINGDOM OF BAHRAIN
All Malaysians residing in Manama, Kingdom of Bahrain are required to register with the Malaysian Embassy in Manama. Registration forms are availabe at the Embassy.

TERMINATION OF ISSUANCE VISA ON ARRIVAL
Effective from 1 August 2008 Visa on Arrival will not be issued by the Immigration Department at the airport for the following countries listed below. Visa should be applied prior to the departure to Malaysia from the Embassy. Countries:- (i) Angola; ..(ii) Burkina Faso; ..(iii) Burundi; ..(iv) Cameroon; .. (v) Central African Republic; .. (vi) Cote d'Ivoire; .. (vii) Republic Congo; .. (viii) Democratic Republic of Congo; .. (ix) Djibouti; ..(x) Equatorial Guinea; .. (xi) Eritrea; .. (xii) Ethiopia; ..(xiii) Guinea - Bissau; .. (xiv) Ghana; .. (xv) Liberia; .. (xvi) Mali; .. (xvii) Mozambique; .. (xviii) Niger; .. (xix) Rwanda; .. (xx) Western Sahara; .. (xxi) Afghanistan; .. (xxii) Colombia; .. (xxiii) India; .. Birth Certificate .. RM30.00 = BD3.300; (6) ..Malaysian Passport (64 pages) .. RM600.00 = BD64.700; (7).. Malaysian Passport (32 pages) ;; RM300.00 = BD32.400; (8) .. Malaysian Passport below 12 years .. Half of the amount..; (9) .. Emergency Certificate ..RM50.00 = BD5.400; (10)..Marriage Registration .. RM20.00 = BD2.200

VISA APPLICATION REQUIREMENTS
(1) Original passport with validity not less than six months;.. (2) Official letter from the sponsor;.. (3) Comfirmed ticket or reservation;.. (4) Comfirmed Hotel Booking;.. (5) One recent photograph; .. (6) Visa form (IM.47);.. (7) Proof of financial capability during the stay in Malaysia;.. (8) Submission and collection of the passport is between 12:00 pm to 13:00 pm from Sunday to Thursday;.. (9) Application process: three working days; .. (10) Visa Fees.

DOCUMENTS REQUIRED FOR APPLICATION OF MALAYSIAN PASSPORT
(1) Original Passport and copy;.. (2) Original Identity card and copy;.. (3) Birth Certificate and copy;.. (4) Form Im42.;.. (5) Two coloured photographs with dark blue background;.. (6) Passport fees RM300.00 or equivalent for 32 pages or RM600.00 or equivalent for 64 pages;..(7) Fees for children under 12 years old will be half of the amount mentioned above. Note: (1) The Embassy does not issue the passport;.. (2) Application will be forwarded to the Immigration Department in Malaysia; .. (3) Applicant will be informed when the Embassy received the passport from the Immigration Department.
