Dato’ Adnan Haji Othman, Ambassador of Malaysia to the Kingdom of Cambodia on Saturday 18 November 2007 jointly officiated the opening of a new Madrasah of Nurul Islam Mosque in Kampung Loang 32 kilometers from Phnom Penh city.

 

Dato’ Adnan was accompanied by H.E. You Sereyvuth (Ibrahim Yunus), Advisor to Samdech Chea Sim, Chairman of Cambodian People’s Party and H.E. Ya Pov (Rohman Yahaya), Advisor to Secretary General of the Senate.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

The single building which cost USD14,536.00 comprises two classrooms.  It was built from funds donated by the family of H.E. Ya Pov and generous individuals from Malaysia, United States, France and Cambodia.  Each classroom can accommodate 50 students from amongst the children in the village.  They will be taught Islamic subjects and also to read the Al-Quran.

 

In his brief speech, Dato’ Adnan advised the students to take full advantage of the new Madrasah to learn about Islam.
