Datin Azlinda Rosli, wife of Dato’ Adnan Haji Othman, Ambassador of Malaysia to the Kingdom of Cambodia yesterday afternoon 6 February 2008 was elected the new president of the Women’s International Group of Cambodia (WIG) for the year 2008.

Datin Azlinda was nominated to the post by outgoing president Madame Elaine Reader, wife of British Ambassador David reader.  Madame Elaine was WIG President for 2006 and 2007.  Datin Azlinda was subsequently elected by acclamation.

WIG is an informal voluntary and social group of women of all ages, with or without professional career in Cambodia, representing more than 20 nationalities.  WIG is open to all expatriate and Cambodian women who would like to meet other women in an inter-cultural environment.  WIG was officially formed in November 1994 and since then had hundreds of members, constantly changing as old members leave Cambodia and new ones arrive.  WIG targets are mainly community projects benefiting Cambodian women and children.  The annual WIG Christmas Fair is the main highlight and takes place in December to raise funds for humanitarian projects for women and children in Cambodia.
