BACKGROUND
The Embassy of Malaysia in Prague was established on 28 November 2001. The Embassy is headed by an Ambassador, with 3 home-based staff and supported by 10 locally recruited staff.

SERVICES
Registration of Malaysian Citizens
Malaysians residing, working or studying in the Czech Republic are highly encouraged to register themselves with the Embassy. Registering yourself with the Embassy is useful as it would enable us to get in touch with you during emergencies. Registration can be done by calling at the Embassy in person or by phone, fax or e-mail by providing the following information:
- Full name (as written in passport)
- Passport and IC numbers
- Address and contact numbers in the Czech Republic
- Address in contact numbers in Malaysia
- Full name, address and contact numbers of next of kin in Malaysia
- Purpose of stay in the Czech Republic
- Duration of stay in the Czech Republic
- Estimated date of departure from the Czech Republic
For a proper registration, Malaysians are encouraged to register using a prescribe registration form which can be downloaded from the Embassy's website.
Letter of Good Conduct
Malaysians or non-Malaysians who used to live in Malaysia prior to arrival in the Czech Republic are usually required to proof to local authorities that they are free from any criminal record in Malaysia when applying for visa extension, filing a marriage application, registering a company or buying a property in the Czech Republic. Malaysians or non-Malaysians who wish to obtain such a proof or so called Letter of Good Conduct may file their applications to the Embassy by submitting the following:

- 1 statutory declaration form (obtainable from the Embassy)
- 1 recent coloured photo
- Passport
- Identity card (not required for non-Malaysians)
- A Letter of Good Conduct fee of RM 20.00 (payable in equivalent amount in local currency)
- A Statutory Declaration fee of RM 20.00 (payable in equivalent amount in local currency)
Applicants are kindly advised to submit their applications well ahead of time as the Embassy, in certain cases, might have to refer the application to the competent authorities in Malaysia for clearance before it could issue such a letter.
Renewal of Passports
Malaysians in the Czech Republic may renew their passports through the Embassy. Applicants are advised to submit their applicants well ahead of time (e.g. 3 months before the passport expires or when the passport has 3 pages left) since the renewal also take a quite some times to be processed. Requirements for passport renewal are as follows:
- An application form (obtainable from the Embassy)
- 2 recent coloured photos
- Current passport
- Identity card
- Birth certificate (if any)
- Passport fee of RM 300.00 for 32-page passport or RM 600.00 for 64-page passport (payable in equivalent amount in local currency)
- For applicants below 12 years old and overseas students below 21 years old, passport fee is RM 150.00
Emergency Certificate
Malaysians are required to immediately report the loss of their passports to nearest local police station. The Embassy, in this case, may issue an Emergency Certificate to those Malaysians to facilitate their return to Malaysia. Requirements for the Emergency Certificate are as follows:
- An application form (obtainable from the Embassy)
- A questionnaire on the loss of the passport (will be provided by the Embassy)
- 2 recent coloured photos
- Identity card
- Birth certificate (if any)
- Extract copy of the police report
- Emergency Certificate fee of RM 50.00 (payable in equivalent amount in local currency)
Visa
Czech citizens do not require visa to enter Malaysia for any social visit not exceeding 90 days (e.g. tourism, visiting friends or relatives, attending meetings, seminars, conferences or business discussions, factory inspection, auditing company's account, signing agreements, surveying investment opportunities, setting up a company or factory, sitting for examinations, taking part in sports competition or on a goodwill mission for students).
Czech citizens, however, are required to obtain visa if they are to enggage in employment or professional activities in Malaysia either paid or unpaid or to enter Malaysia for a purpose other than the ones stated above. Requirements for visa application are as follows:
- A visa application (obtainable from the Embassy)
- 1 recent coloured photo
- Passport (with a validity of more than 6 months from proposed date of arrival in Malaysia)
- An approval letter from Immigration Department of Malaysia or Multimedia Development Corporation approving the issuance of Employment, Professional or Dependent Pass to the applicant (if applicable)
- Travel itinerary
- Any other supporting document
- A visa fee of RM 20.00 (payable in equivalent amount in local currency)
Citizens from other countries who require visa for Malaysia may also apply for the visa at the Embassy if they have a valid status of resident in the Czech Republic.
Registration of Marriages
Non-muslim Malaysians in the Czech Republic may elect either to be married under local laws or at the Embassy according to the provisons of the Law Reform (Marriage and Divorce) Act 1976.
Malaysians who contracted a marriage under local laws are required to register their marriages at the Embassy within 6 months from the date of the marriage or at the nearest office of National Registration Department of Malaysia within 6 months from the date of arrival in Malaysia. Requirements for marriage registration are as follows:
- An application form (obtainable from the Embassy)
- 2 recent coloured photos
- Passport
- Identity card (applicable to Malaysians only)
- Proof of marriage e.g. a marriage certificate issued by competent Czech authority
- A fee of RM 20.00 (payable in equivalent amount in local currency)
Those who wish to contract a marriage at the Embassy are required to call at the Embassy in person to submit the following:
- 3 marriage declaration forms (obtainable from the Embassy)
- 3 recent coloured photos
- Passport
- Identity card (applicable to Malaysians only)
- A letter/certificate of single/marital status (if single)
- A divorce certificate or a decree nisi for divorce (if a divorcee)
- A death certificate of late spouse (if a widower)
Application will be put on notice for a period of 21 days. A marriage solemnisation will only be performed if no caveat is received from any member of public during the 21 days notice period. A marriage register will be issued after the marriage solemnisation and a fee of RM 30.00 (payable in equivalent amount in local currency) will be collected.
Registration of Births
According to provisions of Article 14(1)(b), Part II, Second Schedule, Section 1(c) of the Federal Constitution, a child born in the Czech Republic whose father at the time of birth is a Malaysian citizen is required to be registered at the Embassy within one year from the child's date of birth.
Apart from bringing the child to the Embassy, the following are also required to be presented to the Embassy at the time of registration:
- An application form (obtainable from the Embassy)
- Child's birth certificate
- 2 coloured photos of the child
- Parents' passports
- Parents' identity cards (applicable to Malaysians only)
- Parents' marrriage certificate
- A registration fee of RM 20.00 (payable in equivalent amount in local currency)
- A fee of RM 10.00 for Form W (payable in equivalent amount in local currency)
Notary Services
Powers are conferred upon Consular Officer of the Embassy to do any notary act which any notary public can do within Malaysia and to administer oaths, take affidavits and generally exercise the functions of a commissioner for oaths.
In addition, Consular Officer of the Embassy is also empowered to certify (or commonly called legalised) for use in Malaysia the identity of official seals and signatures on documents emanating from the Czech authorities. Consular Officer, in some cases, may also legalise official seals and signatures on Malaysian official documents for use in the Czech Republic.
A document drawn up in Malaysia for use the Czech Republic must be executed by a notary public in Malaysia and authenticated by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Malaysia before it could be presented to the Embassy for legalisation.
The same procedure applies to a document originating from the Czech Republic for use in Malaysia where the document will have to be first executed by a notary public in the Czech Republic and authenticated by Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Czech Republic before it is presented to the Embassy for legalisation.
Requirements for notary services are as follows:
- Passport
- Identity card (applicable to Malaysians only)
- A formal application letter from company duly printed and signed by an authorised person on company's letterhead pad (if applicable)
- Documents that need to be certified/endorsed/legalised (original and photocopy)
- A fee of RM 20.00 per each certification/endorsement/legalisation (payable in equivalent amount in local currency)
Other Services
Other than the above, the Embassy also offers the following services and provides assistance in following cases:
- Registration of absent voters for qualified Malaysians in the Czech Republic
- Serving judicial documents to defendants in Malaysia or in the Czech Republic
- Obtaining diplomatic clearance for Malaysian aircraft flying over or landing in the Czech territory
- Locating missing Malaysians in the Czech Republic
- Arrest of Malaysians in the Czech Republic
- Death of Malaysians in the Czech Republic
- Emergency situation such as flood, earthquake etc.
