Our History
Diplomatic relations between Malaysia and Morocco was established way back in 1966 with the setting up of Malaysian Mission in Rabat in the same year. The Embassy was then headed by the Charge d’ Affaires (CDA). The post of CDA was later upgraded to an Ambassadorial post and the first Malaysian Ambassador to Morocco was appointed in 1989. The Malaysian Ambassador in Morocco is concurrently accredited to Tunisia and Mauritania.The Embassy of Malaysia in Rabat currently consists of six Home Based Staff (HBS) and thirteen Locally Recruited Staff (LRS).
Our Cooperation & Agreements
Malaysia and Morocco have excellent cooperation and signed many agreements in various fields. Among the cooperation and agreements that both countries have are:
3.1 Malaysian Technical Cooperation Programme (MTCP)
Morocco is the recipient county under our Malaysian Technical Cooperation Programme (MTCP). From 1993 until 2005, more than 100 Moroccan officials participated successfully in various MTCP courses. 3.2 Malaysian Students in Morocco
Since 1986, about 200 Malaysian students have graduated from various Moroccan universities. Currently, there are a total of 78 Malaysian students pursuing their Bachelor, Masters and PhD courses in Morocco. These students are studying at University of Ibn Toufail in Kenitra, University Abdul Malek As-Saad in Tetouan, University Mohamed V in Rabat, Darul Hadis Al Hassania in Rabat, University Al Qarawiyin in Fez, Moulay Ismail University in Meknes, Universitu Hassan II in Mohammedia, University Hassan II in Casablanca and University Qadhi Iyad in Marakech. Among the courses pursued are Arab Civilization, Islamic studies, Syariah, Arabic language and Tahfiz. The Moroccan government is giving out 15 scholarships every year for Malaysian students intending to study in Morocco. Prospective students can contact the Embassy for more information.
