HE Ambassador Abdullah Faiz Zain hosted the 52nd National Day Reception which was held at the Residence on 9th October 2009. This is the first time the Reception is being held at the Residence by Ambassador Faiz. Previous National Day receptions were held at the Marriot Hotel, Sheraton Hotel and a restaurant.
The National Day tea -party was also attended by Madame Angele Jeria Bachelet, mother of the President. She has been attending without fail all National Day reception since Ambassador fist hosted it in Santiago.
HE Ambassador Abdullah Faiz Zain was also presented with a farewell plaque by the Dean of the Corp HE Ambassador Maria Consuelo Reyes-Puyet, Ambassador of the Philippines on behalf of the Diplomatic Corp. Ambassador Faiz also took the opportunty to bid farewell to his colleagues and friends as after 3 years and 9 months he is ending his tour of duty in Santiago

HE Ambassador Abdullah Faiz Zain hosted the MTCP Annual Luncheon at the Residence on 3rd October 2009. The Luncheon was well attended by about 50 MTCP participants, some accompanied by their spouses and two with their new born babies. There was live music performed by music undergraduates of the Universidad de Catolica. Some participants took to the floor and danced the cueca, the national dance of Chile.
The Embassy participated again in the Annual Education Fair organised by the Universidad de Chile to promote Malaysia as "the Centre of Academic Excellence". The Embassy had a booth stand explaining to interested students about pursuing their studies in Malaysia.%2 Read

Ambassador Abdullah Faiz Zain hosted a farewell dinner in honour of Her Excellency Ambassador Vimon Kidchob of Thailand last 8 June 2009.Ambassador Vimon is leaving after serving for more than 3 years in Chile. She is taking up the post of Director-General of Information, Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Thailand.
