First Malaysian Education Fair Launched

Bandar Seri Begawan - The Malaysia Education Fair 2006 was yesterday launched at The Mall, Gadong, organised by the Malaysian Ministry of Higher Education with cooperation from the Malaysia High Commission, Malaysian Education Promotion Council(MEPC), IBF International Network Sdn Bhd, and Sunlit Advertising.

Among those present at the launch were Malaysian Education Promotion Council Director Darsham Daud, Malaysian High Commissioner in Brunei Darussalam Datuk Ali Abdullah, and Special Duties Officer of Brunei Ministry of Education Dr Omar Haji Khalid.

The Malaysian high commissioner, in his speech, said he was "proud that today, for the first time, `Malaysia Education Fair' is being held in Bandar Seri Begawan". He also said, "The main objective of the fair is to promote Malaysian education in Brunei."

"To date, some 340 students from Brunei have opted to further their studies in Malaysia," he said, adding that he was certain, with the help of the fair, more parents will consider sending their children to the neighbouring country for higher education.

Following the speech, the high commissioner cut the ribbons to officiate the launch of the education fair before touring the exhibition booths.
