MALAYSIA HIGHER EDUCATION SEMINAR AND EXHIBITION (MOHEX FIJI 2008)

A significant visit to enhance functional cooperation in the field of education between Malaysia and Fiji was the Malaysian Higher Education Exhibition and Seminar on Education in Malaysia (MOHEX Fiji 2008) from 30 to 31 May 2008. This is the first Malaysian education promotion in the Pacific Island states and Fiji selected to be the venue. MOHEX Fiji 2008 was organised by the Ministry of Higher Education, Malaysia, with the close cooperation of the Ministry of Indigenous Affairs of the Republic of the Fiji Islands.

The MOHEX Fiji 2008 was led by Professor Dr. Mohamed Nasser Mohamed Noor, Director, Marketing and International Education, Ministry of Higher Education, Malaysia. Fifteen (15) public and private Malaysia universities as well as the Immigration of Malaysia representatives participated with a total of 35 officials.

Among collaboration between Malaysia’s and Fiji’s tertiary institution to enhance cooperation that was formally realised is Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) signed on 30 May 2008 between Prof. Dato’ Dzulkifli Abdul Razak, Vice Chancellor of University Science of Malaysia (USM) and Dr. Esther Williams, the Acting Vice Chancellor of University of the South Pacific (USP).

Possibilities of cooperation between University of Pahang, Malaysia and the Fiji Institute Technology representative were also explored.
