CELEBRATION OF SPB YANG DI-PERTUAN AGONG’S BIRTHDAY, 2008
The celebration of His Majesty SPB Yang di-Pertuan Agong's birthday for 2008 was held on 31 May 2008, a week before the actual date at “Rumah Malaysia”, an official residence of the High Commissioner from 8.00 p.m. to 10.00 p.m. to accommodate the Malaysian delegation who participated in the Malaysian Higher Education and Seminar on Education in Malaysia (MOHEX Fiji 2008) on 30 and 31 May 2008.
It was also attended by the Malaysian community and afforded too, an opportunity to meet with Malaysian delegation. About fifty (50) Malaysians, including the Malaysian education delegation attended the event as well as Fiji Islanders who assisted the Malaysian delegation in making MOHEX Fiji 2008 a success.
The event began with thank you note by Her Excellency, Dato’ Nafisah Mohamed, the High Commissioner to the guests for their attendance and followed by a remark on the birthday of His Majesty SPB Yang di-Pertuan Agong. It was then followed by choral songs and “meke” dance performed by the Kadavu Choir Group followed by a Malaysian buffet dinner.
The end of the programme was the presentation of war club by the High Commissioner to Associate Professor Dr. Mohamed Nasser Mohamed Noor, the Head of Malaysian Education Promotion Delegation as a memento to the MOHEX Fiji 2008 delegation. Prof. Dato’ Dzulkifli Abdul Razak, Vice Chancellor, University Science of Malaysia (USM), also presented a memento the High Commissioner.
