Hari Raya Aidil Fitri Reception 2007
About 200 Malaysians in and around Washington DC celebrated Hari Raya at the Embassy on October 12, 2007. A reception was held after “Solat Hari Raya” where traditional food like such as rendang, lemang and ketupat were served.
On October 15, 2007, H.E. Datuk Dr. Rajmah Hussain hosted a Hari Raya Reception at Rumah Malaysia. Among the guests invited were US Government Officials, ASEAN Ambassadors, International Organization officials, members of business community and officials of the Embassy.

The National Day reception was held on September 6, 2007 to celebrate the 50th anniversary of Malaysia’s independence. About 500 guests from various bodies including the US Government, Congress, Diplomatic Corp, former US Ambassadors to Malaysia, international organizations, business community, academic institutions, NGOs, think-tanks, media and Malaysian professionals, attended the National Day reception.

On August 22, 2007, H.E. Datuk Dr. Rajmah Hussain hosted a tea reception in honor of YAB DPM Dato’ Sri Mohd Najib Abdul Razak who was on a private visit to Washington DC and in honor of Muhammad Muqharabbin Mokhtar, the UiTM student who is on his cycling expedition around the world. He has just completed his 40 days journey cycling across the United States, from Los Angeles to Washington, D.C. and left for London in the evening to continue his cycling expedition in Europe.

The “Malaysia: The Truly Asian Kitchen” reception was held on 19 July 2007. Besides promoting Malaysian food, the event also highlighted the “Visit Malaysia Year 2007” and showcased Malaysian cultural performances. Five Malaysian restaurants in and around Washington, D.C. took part in the reception.

and HRH Tengku Fauziah binti Tengku Abdul Rashid were on a private visit to Washington, D.C. from 5 – 8 July, 2007. In honor of the Royal Highnesses’ visit, H.E. Datuk Dr. Rajmah Hussain hosted a dinner at Rumah Malaysia which was attended by officials of the Embassy and their spouses.

New York/Washington DC Games
The Embassy of Malaysia Club hosted the New York/Washington DC Games on 30 June 2007. The Golf Tournament was played on 16 June 2007 at Three Little Bakers Golf Club in Delaware and the Bowling Tournament was played at Bowl America in Fairfax, Virginia on 30 June 2007. A dinner reception was held in the evening of 30 June 2007. The New York team won the Golf Tournament and the Washington team won the Bowling Tournament. The overall champion trophy was then shared by both teams.

Reception in Conjunction with the Birthday of His Majesty The Yang Di-Pertuan Agong
The reception to celebrate the Birthday of His Majesty The Yang di-Pertuan Agong was held on Saturday, 2 June 2007. About 170 Malaysians in Washington DC attended the event. H.E. Datuk Dr. Rajmah Hussain reminded the guests to strengthen their spirit of loyalty and love for the king and country. She also urged them to play their role as “Cultural Ambassador” and to promote “Visit Malaysia Year 2007” to our host country. The Perwakilan ladies choir entertained the guests with patriotic songs followed by the cake cutting ceremony and reception.

The Fulbright Annual Spring Reception, Dinner and Cultural Program
The Fulbright Annual Spring Reception, Dinner and Cultural Program was hosted by H.E Datin Paduka Dr. Rajmah Hussain and the Fulbright Association, at the Embassy on 27 April 2007. 160 current and former Fulbright scholars including former US ambassador to Malaysia, Ambassador Ronald Palmer, attended the reception. In her welcoming remarks, H.E. Datin Paduka Dr.Rajmah Hussain pointed out that many Malaysians has benefited from the Fulbright program and it has contributed to the promotion of bilateral relations and people-to-people contacts between Malaysia and the United States. Video presentation “Malaysia: The Heart of Southeast Asia” was shown to the guests, followed by buffet reception and cultural performances.
