Bilateral relations between Malaysia and the Kingdom of Bahrain remain close and cordial since the establishment of diplomatic ties on 25 November 1974. The relations was further consolidated with the opening of the Malaysian Embassy in the Kingdom on 16 September 2003. Bahrain’s Ambassador in Bangkok is concurrently accredited to Malaysia.


The Chancery of the Malaysian Embassy was first located at Sheraton Hotel, Manama before moving to a building on Road 2835, Seef District, Manama in 2004. The Chancery then relocated to the current building, at Road 2830 in same area in 2010.  The Ambassador of Malaysia to the Kingdom of Bahrain has always occupied the premises of Villa 148, Al-Jasra as the official residence since 2003.
