GENERAL INFORMATION FOR VISA APPLICATION

The High Commission is closed on certain Malaysian and Bruneian public holidays.
Nationals of ASEAN countries (except Myanmar) do not require a visa for social visits of up to one month. However, a visa is required for employment purposes.

APPLICATION OF VISA
All applications for visa to Malaysia by foreign citizens should be submitted with the following:-
a) 2 copies of visa application forms (Im.47 – Pin.1/97) priced *RM2=B$1.00
(forms are available at the High Commission)
b) 2 copies of applicant’s passport size photo
(There are no photographic studios at the High Commission)
c) Visa fees for:-
*Indonesian (RM15 – B$7.00)
*Philippines (RM30 – B$16.00)
* subject to change. (Please provide exact payment)
d) Approval letter from Immigration Department Malaysia where applicable. (Labuan F.T, Sabah, Sarawak or Kuala Lumpur)
The High Commission of Malaysia does not authorize any party or individual to act on its behalf in the application of visa to Malaysia or sale of application forms.
Queries regarding application of visa to Malaysia should be directed to the Consular Section of the High Commission during office hours.
Public Transport is available for the public to go to the High Commission. It is advisable to be careful when using public transport. Bus schedule is as follows:-
From Bandar Seri Begawan and Serasa Ferry Terminal, Muara

Note : Foreigners arriving at Serasa Ferry Terminal from Labuan can take Express Bus (Syarikat PHLS Sdn Bhd) to go to downtown Bandar Seri Begawan (BSB) as in (i) and then continue their journey by taking Public Bus No.35 (Purple Bus/Syarikat PHLS Sdn Bhd) as in (ii) to reach the High Commission of Malaysia in Jalan Kebangsaan and vice-versa to go back to Serasa Ferry Terminal.

Taxi Fares above are charged based on per person per way
Passengers are advised to be cautious when using a taxi. There have been reports of irresponsible taxi drivers charging excessive fares for the journey to and from the High Commission of Malaysia. Passengers would be wise to ensure that a reasonable fare is charged for each journey.

- Visa Without Reference (Visa is issued by Malaysian mission in the respective country)
- Visa With Reference (Visa is approved by the Immigration Department)
Note * :
All Visitors MUST ENTER Malaysia through Airports only.
Visitors MUST obtain Visa Without Reference or Visa With Reference at the nearest Malaysian Embassies / Consulates before entering Malaysia.
Exemption of visa is given to nationals of African countries as listed in Para 3.1 above, who visits Malaysia under the sponsorship of the Government or as a guest of the Government. The period of stay approved will be based on the period required to achieve the purpose of the visit as a government sponsored visitor or guest. Proof of sponsorship or invitation as a guest of the Government should be produced to the Immigration Officer at the point of entry.
i- Conditions for Visa Without Reference (VWTR):
Posses confirm air ticket back to country of origin or current residing country or posses visa and confirm air ticket to country of onward destination.
Visitors will be given a maximum 14 days stay with no extension allowed or much shorter period of stay for those who are on transit before continuing their onward journey.
ii- Conditions for Visa With Reference (VWR):
This visa is issued for those traveling on business or investment only.
Trip MUST be sponsored by a local high level individual or a local business company which invites them to Malaysia (the sponsoring company need to be well established and is required to submit copies of Form 9, 24 and 49 to the Immigration Department of Malaysia).
The sponsor MUST deposit RM 2000.00 per person to the Immigration Department of Malaysia as a security deposit.
Visitors will be given a maximum 30 days of stay with no extension allowed.
Extension of Social/Business pass is not allowed unless approved by the Director General or Deputy Director General of the Immigration Department of Malaysia.
