Documents to be submitted:

1.

1 original Registration Form, JPN.KC O6 can be obtained at the Consulate General

2.

3 recent colored photographs of applicants with white background, size 3.5 cm x 5.0 cm with small envelope (print name behind photos)

3.

Original Canadian Marriage Certificate with 2 photocopies

4.

Original Passport of applicants with 2 photocopies of information page

5.

Original Malaysian Identity Card of applicants with 2 photocopies (front and back)

6.

Original valid Canadian Permanent Residence (PR) Card with 2 photocopies. If you DO NOT possess a valid Canadian PR Card, you are required to produce a Search Letter from the Canadian Immigration Citizenship (CIC) Department confirming that you have not acquired Canadian Citizenship (not applicable to those below 18 years of age) OR

Those on Student Visa, please produce a letter from your university, college or school, confirming that you are a bona fide student together with your valid original study visa issued by the Canadian Immigration and Citizenship (CIC) Department with 2 photocopies OR

9.

Those on work visa, please produce your original valid work visa issued by the Canadian Immigration and Citizenship (CIC) Department with 2 photocopies

Fees: CAD 10.00 cash only

8.

A copy of the Malaysian Registration application submitted online using My Kad no. only (click e-consular – Registration of Malaysian Citizen Overseas)

NOTE:

i.                Processing takes five (5) business days.

ii.               The marriage must be registered with the Consulate General within 6 months from the date of marriage. Any registration made after 6 months of marriage is considered as late registration. The fee for late registration is CAD 20.00 for the first six months and CAD 17.00 for every six months thereof to a maximum of CAD 334.00 OR

iii.              The marriage can also be registered in person at any National Registration Department (Jabatan Pendaftaran Negara) in Malaysia within six (6) months of arrival in Malaysia.

 iv.         For Muslim marriages solemnized in Canada, registration must be done with the Islamic Religious Department (Jabatan Agama Islam) in the applicant’s local area of residence in Malaysia. The Certificate of Conversion and the Marriage Certificate must be notarized by a notary public or a lawyer in Canada (Please refer to – Authentication of Foreign Documents below).

iii.               For non-Muslim marriages solemnized in Canada, the Marriage Certificate must be notarized by a notary public or a lawyer in Canada and certified by the Provincial authority respectively (Please refer to – Authentication of Foreign Documents below).

v.        All Malaysians residing in British Columbia, Alberta and Saskatchewan are strongly  advised to register with the Consulate General of Malaysia in Vancouver in view of the frequency of natural and man-made disasters worldwide. Information gathered during registration would facilitate expeditious consular assistance and easy access to communication with the next-of-kin in case of Emergency. (Please refer to item No. 6/7 at the back of the Malaysian passport)

NOTE:

i.          The FATHER MUST BE A MALAYSIAN CITIZEN at the time of birth of the child.  If the father of a child born overseas is not a Malaysian citizen, the child cannot be registered at the Consulate General under Article 14(1) (b), Section 1 (C) Part 2, Second Schedule of the Malaysian Constitution.

ii.          The child MUST BE REGISTERED within one (1) year of his/her birth. Failure to register thereof is considered a late registration.  Late registration has to be referred to the National Registration Department, Malaysia for approval. The result of the application (approved or otherwise) will be notified to the applicant in due time.

iii.         Children born in Malaysia can be a Malaysian if either parent (father or mother) is a citizen of Malaysia.
