New Foreign Minister of the Republic of the Fiji Islands

Ratu Inoke Kubuabola

 

The Ministry for Foreign Affairs, International Co-operation and Civil Aviation (MFA) of the Republic of the Fiji Islands has forwarded to Malawakil Suva the Note Ref. No. 439/09 dated 4 August 2009 informing that Ratu Inoke Kubuabola has been appointed as the new Minister for Foreign Affairs, International Co-operation and Civil Aviation of the Republic of the Fiji Islands.


Ratu Inoke Kubuabola has been sworn in as the new Minister for Foreign Affairs on 4 September 2009 and the MFA of Fiji has confirmed that Ratu Inoke began work in his new office today, 5 August 2009.

 

Ratu Inoke is a diplomat having previously served as Fiji’s Ambassador to Japan after serving as High Commissioner to Papua New Guinea from 2002 to 2005. He took up the portfolio from Prime Minister Commodore Voreqe Bainimarama. He is brother to former Reserve Bank Governor Ratu Jone Kubuabola who was also Finance Minister in the ousted Soqosoqo Duavata ni Lewenivanua (SDL) government of 2006.
