Previous meetings with SG AEBA have been held on 21 October and 12 April 2016. The purpose of the January 2017 courtesy call is to thank Ambassador for his support, guidance, and recommandations for the Inaugural Bangladesh Global Summit in Kuala Lumpur on 19-20 November 2016.
SG AEBA conveyed the overwhelmingly positive feedback from participants in the Bangladesh Global Summit. Response garnered prompted consideration to establish the World Bangladesh Organisation (WBO) to foster networking opportunities for Bangladeshis from the world over and their global contacts.
The presence of YB Dato’ Seri Mohamed Nazri bin Abdul Aziz, Minister of Tourism and Culture (YB MOTAC) during the Summit signalled the prominence Malaysia placed on links with Bangladeshi expatriates and Bangladesh as a whole. YB MOTAC was very supportive of the Summit and welcomed future Summits to be held in Malaysia. On this note, Ambassador assured SG AEBA that Malaysia is the window to the world. Those who ventured into Malaysia have thrived as their ideas took seed and blossomed into opportunities that were pursued with our harmonious multicultural society and dynamic expatriate community. HE Md. Shahidul Islam, High Commissioner of Bangladesh to Malaysia was also present at the Summit.
Ambassador and SG AEBA both concurred that accomplishments of the Malaysian and Bangladeshi diaspora would provide a boost to the images of their countries of origin. On the success of Malaysia, Ambassador relayed that our country has long emphasized the importance of balanced growth by providing access to education, inter alia, in order to boost outcomes for all segments of society. Moving forward, Malaysia will focus on ensuring more equitable access to economic opportunities while increasing wellbeing and quality of life across all segments of society.
