APPOINTMENT OF NEW HEADS OF MISSION OF MALAYSIA

 

Seven new Heads of Mission of Malaysia received their Letters of Credence from His Majesty Paduka Seri Sultan Nazrin Muizzuddin Shah Ibni Almarhum Sultan Azlan Muhibbuddin Shah Al-Maghfur-lah, Deputy Yang di-Pertuan Agong in a ceremony held at Istana Negara on Thursday, 20 December 2018. The Ceremony was also attended by the Minister of Foreign Affairs, Dato' Saifuddin Abdullah. The new Heads of Mission are:

 

Dato’ Kennedy Jawan

Ambassador-Designate of Malaysia to Japan

 

Dato’ Kennedy Jawan started his service as Administrative and Diplomatic Officer in 1988. He was the Deputy Secretary General (Multilateral Affairs) at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs since January 2018 prior to his appointment as Ambassador of Malaysia to Japan.

 

He previously served as Assistant Secretary (Americas) from 1989 until 1992 before serving as Second Secretary at the Embassy of Malaysia in Japan from 1992 until 1995 and First Secretary at the Embassy of Malaysia in Myanmar from 1995 until 1999. He later returned to serve as Principal Assistant Secretary (South Asia) from 1999 until 2002.

 

Dato’ Kennedy had also served as Counsellor at the Embassy of Malaysia in the United States of America from 2002 until 2005, Principal Assistant Secretary (East Asia) from 2005 until 2007 and Undersecretary of Finance and Development Division from 2007 until 2008. He had been appointed as the High Commissioner of Malaysia to South Africa from 2008 until 2014, Ambassador of Malaysia to Spain from 2014 until 2016 and Undersecretary of Americas Division in early 2017.

Dato’ Mohd Ashri Muda

Ambassador-Designate of Malaysia to the Republic of Korea

 

Dato’ Mohd Ashri Muda started his service as Administrative and Diplomatic Officer at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in 1988. He was the Chief of Protocol at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs since 2017 prior to his appointment as the Ambassador of Malaysia to the Republic of Korea.

 

He previously served as Assistant Secretary (West Asia) from 1988 until 1992 before serving as Second Secretary at the Embassy of Malaysia in Morocco from 1992 until 1995. He later returned to serve as Assistant Secretary (Services and Personnel) from 1995 until 1996 and Assistant Secretary (East Asia) at the end of 1996.

 

Dato’ Mohd Ashri had also served as First Secretary at the Embassy of Malaysia in China from 1996 until 2000, Senior Private Secretary to Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs from 2000 until 2004, Counsellor at the Embassy of Malaysia in Serbia from 2004 until 2007 and Deputy Chief of Protocol from 2007 until 2011.

 

Dato’ Mohd Ashri had been appointed as the Ambassador of Malaysia to Sudan from 2011 until 2014 and the Ambassador of Malaysia to Argentina from 2014 until 2017.

 

 

Dato’ Azmil Mohd Zabidi

Ambassador-Designate of Malaysia to the United States of America

 

Dato’ Azmil Mohd Zabidi started his service as Administrative and Diplomatic Officer at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in 1992. He was the Director General at the Southeast Asia Regional Centre for Counter Terrorism (SEARCCT) since 2017 prior to his appointment as the Ambassador of Malaysia to the United States.

 

He previously served as Assistant Secretary (Southeast Asia) from 1993 until 1995 before serving as Second Secretary at the Embassy of Malaysia in Belgium from 1995 until 1998 and First Secretary at the High Commission of Malaysia in New Zealand. He later returned to serve as Assistant Secretary (Economy) from 1999 until 2002 and Principal Assistant Secretary (Regional Cooperation, Social and Cultural) from 2002 until 2003.

 

Dato’ Azmil had been appointed as Counsellor at the Embassy of Malaysia in China from 2003 until 2007 and Consul General of Malaysia to Shanghai, China from 2007 until 2010. He had also served as Undersecretary of Multilateral Economic Cooperation Directorate from 2010 until 2011, Ambassador of Malaysia to Viet Nam from 2011 until 2016 and Undersecretary of Europe Division from 2016 until 2017.

 

 

Ambassador Ismail Haji Salam

High Commissioner-Designate of Malaysia to Brunei Darussalam

 

Ambassador Ismail Haji Salam started his service as Administrative and Diplomatic Officer at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in 1992. He was the Undersecretary of Europe Division since January 2017 prior to his appointment as the High Commissioner of Malaysia to Brunei Darussalam.

 

He previously served as Assistant Secretary (Economy) from 1993 until 1995, First Secretary at the Embassy of Malaysia in Poland from 1995 until 1998 and Assistant Secretary (Information) from 1999 until 2000, before being appointed as Consul at the Consulate of Malaysia in Pekanbaru, Indonesia from 2000 until 2004.

 

Ambassador Ismail had also served as Principal Assistant Secretary (Southeast Asia and South Pacific) from 2004 until 2009, Minister Counsellor at the Embassy of Malaysia in Austria from 2010 until 2012, High Commissioner of Malaysia to Kenya from 2012 until 2017 and Undersecretary of Consular Division in mid-2017.

 

 

 

 

 

 

Ambassador Nur Ashikin Mohd Taib

Ambassador-Designate of Malaysia to Sweden

 

Ambassador Nur Ashikin Mohd Taib started her service as Administrative and Diplomatic Officer at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in 1994. She was the High Commissioner of Malaysia to Bangladesh since January 2016 prior to her appointment as the Ambassador of Malaysia to Sweden.

 

She previously served as Assistant Secretary (West Europe) from 1995 until 1996, Second Secretary at the Embassy of Malaysia in France from 1996 until 2000 and Assistant Secretary (Global Economy and South-South Cooperation) from 2000 until 2002.

 

Ambassador Nur Ashikin had also served as Principal Assistant Secretary (Training and Career Development) from 2002 until 2005 and Counsellor at the Embassy of Malaysia in Belgium from 2006 until 2010. She was later appointed as Undersecretary of Policy and Strategic Planning Division from 2010 until 2012, Undersecretary of Information and Public Diplomacy Division in 2012 and Deputy Director General at the Department Policy Planning and Coordination from 2014 until 2016.

 

 

Mr. Eldeen Husaini Mohd Hashim

Ambassador-Designate of Malaysia to Cambodia

 

Mr. Eldeen Husaini Mohd Hashim started his service as Administrative and Diplomatic Officer at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in 1998. He was the Undersecretary of Southeast Asia Division since 2017 prior to his appointment as the Ambassador of Malaysia to Cambodia.

 

He previously served as Assistant Secretary (Economy) from 1998 until 2000 and Assistant Secretary (East Asia) from 2001 until 2003. At the Embassy of Malaysia in Japan, he served as Second Secretary from 2003 until 2005 and First Secretary from 2005 until 2006. He later returned to serve as Assistant Secretary (West Asia and North Africa) from 2006 until 2007.

 

Mr. Eldeen Husaini had also served as Principal Assistant Secretary (East Asia and South Asia) in 2007 and Principal Assistant Secretary (Southeast Asia and South Pacific) from 2007 until 2010. At the same time, he acted as Counsellor and Special Officer to the Chairman of Eminent Persons Group Malaysia-Indonesia from 2008 until 2009. He was later appointed as Special Officer to Special Envoy of Malaysia to Brunei Darussalam from 2009 until 2010. He served as Minister Counsellor at the High Commission of Malaysia in Australia from 2010 until 2014 and Consul General of Malaysia to Mumbai, India from 2014 until 2017.

 

 

Mr. John K. Samuel

Ambassador-Designate of Malaysia to Finland

 

Mr. John K. Samuel started his service as Administrative and Diplomatic Officer at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in 1996. He was the Undersecretary of Human Rights and Humanitarian Division since 2017 prior to his appointment as the Ambassador of Malaysia to Finland.

 

He previously served as Assistant Secretary (Africa and South Sahara) from 1996 until 2000, Second Secretary at the Embassy of Malaysia in Russia from 2000 until 2005 and Principal Assistant Secretary (Information) from 2005 until 2008.

 

Mr. John had also served as Deputy Director General at the South East Asia Regional Centre for Counter Terrorism (SEARCCT) from 2009 until 2011, before being appointed as Consul General of Malaysia to Frankfurt, Germany from 2011 until 2014 and Minister/Deputy Chief of Mission at the Embassy of Malaysia in China from 2014 until 2017.
