EXPLOSIONS IN COLOMBO, SRI LANKA

 

On Sunday, 21 April 2019, at around 8.30 a.m. (local time) explosions were reported at several areas namely Kochikade Church, Katuwapitiya Church, Shangri-La Hotel, Cinnamon Grand Hotel and a church in Batticaloa in Colombo, Sri Lanka, which claimed the lives of at least 49 people.

 

As of 1.30 p.m. (Malaysian time), no Malaysians were reported to be among the fatalities.

 

Malaysia strongly condemns the attack and hopes that those responsible for this barbaric crime be brought to justice. Our thoughts and prayers are with the victims and families affected.

 

Malaysians in the vicinity of the area are advised to exercise caution, and monitor the latest developments from local news as well as local authorities.
