FLOOD SITUATION IN TOWNSVILLE, NORTHERN QUEENSLAND, AUSTRALIA

 

Townsville residents have been issued a warning of "risk to life and property", after the Ross River Dam spillway gates were opened to full setting at 8.30 p.m., Sunday, 3 February 2019. Up to 1900 cubic meters of water per second was released out of the dam. Situation remains at high risk as heavy rain is forecasted to continue for the next few days.

 

Malaysians visiting or living in the affected areas are advised to exercise caution and always monitor the local news and weather reports.

 

Malaysians, estimated around 50 in number are reportedly safe. Malaysians who require consular assistance are advised to contact either the High Commission of Malaysia in Canberra or Consulate of Malaysia in Sydney as per details below:
