LATEST POLITICAL AND SECURITY DEVELOPMENTS IN SUDAN

 

On 11 April 2019, at 2.00 pm local time, Sudanese First Vice President and Minister of Defence, Lt. General Ahmed Ibn Auf in a televised address, confirmed the arrest of President Omar Hassan Al Bashir and the dissolution of the National Consensus Government of Sudan.

 

The Embassy of Malaysia in Khartoum, Sudan has confirmed that certain parts of Khartoum continue to experience unrest following the recent developments in the country.

 

The Embassy has been in close contact with all the registered Malaysians in Sudan and is monitoring the situation closely. All the 160 registered Malaysians in Sudan are accounted for and confirmed safe. The Embassy will continue to provide necessary assistance to all Malaysians in Khartoum.

 

Malaysians who are planning to visit Sudan are advised to defer their travel.
