OFFICIAL VISIT OF YAB DEPUTY PRIME MINISTER TO VIETNAM                            

24 – 26 OCTOBER 2018

Deputy Prime Minister of Malaysia, YAB Dato’ Seri Dr. Wan Azizah Wan Ismail will undertake an official visit to Vietnam from 24 to 26 October 2018. This would be her first official visit after being appointed as the Deputy Prime Minister of Malaysia on 21 May 2018.

During the visit, YAB Deputy Prime Minister is scheduled to have a bilateral meeting with the Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs of Vietnam, His Excellency Pham Binh Minh, where both leaders are expected to discuss broad ranging bilateral issues as well as regional and international issues of mutual interest. Her official visit will coincide with her participation in the 3rd ASEAN Ministerial Meeting on Women (AMMW) in Hanoi.

YAB Deputy Prime Minister is also expected to pay a courtesy call on the Prime Minister of Vietnam, His Excellency Nguyen Xuan Phuc, followed by a call on the Chairwoman of the National Assembly of Vietnam, Her Excellency Nguyen Thi Kim Ngan. YAB Deputy Prime Minister will also be meeting the Malaysian diaspora in Hanoi.

This year marks the 45th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between Malaysia and Vietnam. Both countries continue to maintain close and comprehensive bilateral relations. Vietnam has been one of Malaysia’s important trading partners with total trade in 2017 amounting to USD 11.7 billion, an increase of 13.9 percent from 2016, making Malaysia their 13th largest trading partner in the world and 4th in ASEAN after Singapore, Thailand and Indonesia.

YAB Deputy Prime Minister will be accompanied by Deputy Foreign Minister of Malaysia, YB Dato’ Marzuki Yahya, officials from Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Ministry of Women, Family and Community Development.
