SHOOTING INCIDENT AT MOSQUES IN CHRISTCHURCH, NEW ZEALAND

 

On Friday, 15 March 2019, at 1.40pm local time, shooting incidents were reported at Al-Noor Mosque near Hagley Park and Linwood Mosque in Christchurch, New Zealand, which claimed the lives of 40 people and more than 20 were injured. The Government of New Zealand has announced a lockdown of the city.

 

As of 3.00 p.m. (Malaysian time), no Malaysians are reported to be among the fatalities. However, two Malaysians are injured in the incident and being treated at the hospital.

 

Malaysia condemns in the strongest term, this senseless act of terror on innocent civilians and hopes that those responsible for this barbaric crime be brought to justice. Our thoughts and prayers are with the victims and families of the shooting incident.
