WORKING VISIT OF DEPUTY PRIME MINISTER
DATO’ SERI DR. WAN AZIZAH WAN ISMAIL, TO MAKKAH, SAUDI ARABIA FOR THE 14TH SESSION OF THE ORGANISATION OF ISLAMIC COOPERATION SUMMIT 31 MAY 2019
Deputy Prime Minister, Dato’ Seri Wan Azizah Wan Ismail will be leading the Malaysian delegation to the 14th Session of the Islamic Summit Conference (OIC Summit) in Makkah, Saudi Arabia on 31 May 2019. The Deputy Prime Minister will be accompanied by Minister of Foreign Affairs, Dato’ Saifuddin Abdullah as well as officials from the Deputy Prime Minister’s Office and Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
The Summit, with the theme ‘Makkah Al-Mukarramah Summit: Hand in Hand toward the Future’, was preceded by two preparatory meetings namely, the Senior Officials’ Meeting on 27 May 2019 and the Council of Foreign Ministers’ Meeting on 29 May 2019. The Summit is expected to discuss in depth political, economic and socio-cultural issues affecting the Muslim Ummah.
The Summit is expected to deliberate on the OIC Ten Year Plan of Action 2016 – 2025 with an objective to address the diverse challenges facing the Ummah.
The 14th OIC Summit is also expected to adopt 3 outcome documents, namely, the Final Communique of the 14th OIC Summit, the Resolution on the cause of Palestine and Al-Quds Al-Sharif and Makkah Declaration.
As a founding member of the OIC, Malaysia is committed in supporting the OIC in promoting the development and wellbeing of the Ummah.
