WORKING VISIT OF THE DEPUTY FOREIGN MINISTER

FOR THE 46TH SESSION OF THE OIC COUNCIL OF FOREIGN MINISTERS (CFM)

The Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs, Dato’ Marzuki Hj Yahya, will be leading Malaysia’s delegation to the 46th Session of the Council of Foreign Ministers (CFM) of the Organisation of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) which will be held in Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates (UAE) from 1 to 2 March 2019.

 

Under this year’s theme “Session of 50 Years of Islamic Cooperation: Roadmap for Prosperity and Development”, the 46th CFM will discuss on political, economic, and socio-cultural issues affecting the Muslim Ummah. Dato’ Marzuki will be delivering the country statement and is expected to hold bilateral meetings with other Heads of Delegation to discuss issues of mutual concern and interest.

The CFM is an annual meeting of the OIC Foreign Ministers to review progress for the implementation of the decisions and resolutions adopted at previous Summits and Councils of Foreign Ministers. The election of Independent Permanent Human Rights Commission (IPHRC) will also take place during this meeting. Malaysia will be nominating its candidate for Asia Group, Ahmad Azam Ab Rahman, President of Wadah Pencerdasan Umat (WADAH).

Malaysia’s participation at the Meeting is a testament of its continuous commitment and support for the OIC in its efforts in addressing current issues and challenges faced by the Muslim Ummah.
