 Multilateral Security Division is responsible for formulating, coordinating and defending Malaysia's national policy, position and interest in the regional and international fora, under the United Nations (UN) framework concerning disarmament and non-proliferation of weapons of mass destruction, control of conventional weapons, counter-terrorism and violent extremism and transnational crimes.


The Division cooperates with various ministries, agencies, UN Member States and international organisations in addressing these issues. Among the international organisations and initiatives involved are ASEAN, ASEAN Regional Forum (ARF), Asia Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) Counter Terrorism Working Group (CTWG), Global Coalition against Da’esh, Global Initiative to Combat Nuclear Terrorism (GICNT), Global Counter Terrorism Forum (GCTF), International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA), Nuclear Security Summit (NSS), Organisation for the Prohibition of Chemical Weapons (OPCW), Proliferation Security Initiative (PSI), United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime (UNODC) and the UN. Malaysia's involvement in these issues include discussion, negotiation and participation in relevant meetings and conferences.
