The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Malaysia aims to be a premier foreign service that contributes towards realising Malaysia’s aspirations of becoming a high income status nation by 2020. An effective public diplomacy is in place to ensure that a confident image of the Ministry, substantiated with a firm foreign policy, is projected positively across the world.

The Ministry uses a multi-pronged approach in public diplomacy to close the gap between factual and false information in order to advance and defend Malaysia’s interests abroad. The Ministry is also optimistic that the combined use of traditional, print and social media for the dissemination of information will highlight Malaysia’s foreign policy and correct any misperceptions that may exist.

The Division of Communication and Public Diplomacy is proactive in utilising various channels of communication to better serve its major stakeholders and clients. Both traditional and social form of communication are utilised in an effort to ensure that the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and its important work around the globe is highlighted and profiled effectively. In the world of diplomacy where perception, information and effectiveness play equally important roles in consolidating the country’s status as a global actor, the Division contributes to the Ministry’s overall national and international image.

To further the Ministry’s aims and aspirations, the Division is committed to provide both an effective public relations service and support the publicity work of the Malaysian missions abroad.
