DEPORTATION OF A MALAYSIAN FROM AMMAN, JORDAN
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs confirms that Mr. Ahmad Musa Alnuwayri Kamaruzaman, a Malaysian student, was deported back today by the Jordanian authorities for overstaying.
According to reports received by the Ministry, Mr. Ahmad Musa’s student visa had lapsed since September 2015. He was instructed by the Jordanian authorities to exit Jordan within seven (7) days at the end of November 2016, which he failed to do. Subsequently, Mr. Ahmad Musa was detained by the Jordanian authorities on 20 January 2017. The Embassy of Malaysia in Amman, Jordan was duly notified on the detention and officials from the Embassy visited him to ensure his wellbeing.
The Embassy of Malaysia in Amman received good cooperation from the Jordanian authorities in handling this matter. The Ministry would like to remind all Malaysians in Jordan to abide and respect local laws and regulations, especially pertaining to immigration laws to avoid unnecessary difficulties remaining in the country.
