OPENING SPEECH BY HIS EXCELLENCY HISHAMUDDIN IBRAHIM, HIGH COMMISSIONER OF MALAYSIA TO THE REPUBLIC OF NAMIBIA ON THE OCCASION OF FINE ARTS EXHIBITION BY FEEZA JAZRI, 10 APRIL 2018

Thank You, Master of Ceremony, Curator Prof Jazz, the Manager of OMBA Gallery, Namcraft Centre, very important guests, ladies and gentlemen. All protocol observed. Good Evening.

First and foremost, I would like to thank the organizer, OMBA Gallery Manager, Ms Shareen Thude, representing the management of Namcraft Centre and the artist, Feeza Jazri for inviting me, my wife, and the staff of the High Commission of Malaysia in Windhoek to this interesting occasion. I feel very honoured and glad to see such beautiful and innovative paintings by the artist, who I believe has been working tirelessly to make the exhibition happen today, at this gallery.

The theme of this exhibition, “Splashes of Memories”, speaks for itself when we all ponder and contemplate the paintings displayed here. I believe it takes a lot of thinking to produce any of these artworks, and combined with the artists God’s gives skills and talent, the painting becomes alive and gives us a living message that we can ponder upon, again and again.

I am also happy to be here, to provide all the support and encouragement to this Malaysian artist, Feeza Jazri, and proud to be able to share her beautiful inspiration with all of us here. It is my hope that she will excel more in times to come, and continue to be successful in pursuing her passion. I strongly believe that the artist’s artworks could bridge the gap of our cultural differences and cultivate the spirit of togetherness or “Harambee”.

These paintings here, as I can see vary a lot, from watercolour to acrylic and oil, from colourful and textural landscapes, flowers, birds, to black and white abstracts, from realism to impressionism and surrealism, which only demonstrates to us Feeza’s ability to express her thinking paradigm and her use of excellent skills of combining colours to make her paintings come to life.

Thank you once again to the organiser, OMBA Gallery Manager for inviting us, all the best to the artist Feeza Jazri and thank you for sharing your beautiful paintings and to all of you who are here on this occasion. Your presence is certainly a gesture of friendships and support for the love of arts.
