Devrin Jeck

Consulate General of Malaysia Los Angeles

 

Devrin Jeck assumed his position as the Consul General of Malaysia Los Angeles (CGMLA) in December 2017 after the completion of his assignment as the Minister-Counsellor at the Embassy of Malaysia in Helsinki, Finland from August 2013 to December 2017.  His first appointment abroad was as the First Secretary of the Embassy of Malaysia in Harare, Zimbabwe from July 2005 until August 2009.

 

A graduate of Birmingham City University in BSc (Hon.) in Business Information Technology and a native Sarawakian, he began his career as Administrative and Diplomatic Service (PTD) Officer in May 2002 and joined the Foreign Service in the same year.  He started his diplomatic career as Assistant Secretary in the Department of Multilateral Affairs, notably in various regional cooperation fora including the Asia-Europe Meeting (ASEM). Upon returning from Oxford University in June 2010 where he received his Certificate in Diplomatic Studies, he was assigned to the Bilateral Department in Europe Division as the Principal Assistant Secretary covering the EU itself, the UK, Russia as well as the Nordic and Baltic countries.

 

He also holds a Diploma in Public Administration from the National Institute of Public Administration, Malaysia (INTAN) and an Advanced Diploma in Information Technology from the University of Kuala Lumpur (UniKL).

 

Devrin is fluent in English, Malay, his native language Iban, and currently a new student of Thai and French.
