Pasadena, 1 January 2018 – Mr. Devrin Jeck, the new Consul-General of Malaysia attended his first event at the reception organized and hosted by Singpoli Group (http://www.singpoli.com/about/) for the viewing of the parade of the Tournament of Roses.  At the reception, CG Devrin had the opportunity to meet other ASEAN Consuls-General and Honorary Consul(s), Y.Bhg. Dato’ Kin Hui, Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Singpoli Group and its Executive Team, Rep. Judy Chu, US Congresswoman for the 27^th District of California (https://chu.house.gov/about/full-biography) and other members of the business communities and public.  Also present at the reception was officials from the Tourism Malaysia and MATRADE.

The Tournament of Roses (https://www.tournamentofroses.com/rose-parade) is held annually on 1 January every year for more than 100 years, and took place in the City of Pasadena. The next event is scheduled for 1 January 2019.

Singpoli has been taking part in the annual Rose Parade (official name is Tournament of Roses) since 2013.  Singpoli’s floats had won numerous awards including the Extraordinaire Trophy for Most Spectacular Entry in 2014; the Grand Marshal’s trophy for Most Creative Design) in 2015, followed by the Sweepstakes Trophy for Most Beautiful Entry) in 2016.  Last year, their float won the Fantasy Trophy for its best display of fantasy and imagination.)

For this year’s entry, Singpoli American BD’s float won the 2018 Rose Parade Sweepstakes trophy for the float “Rising Above,” as the “most beautiful entry encompassing float design, floral presentation and entertainment.”  Malaysian singer, Shila Amzah performed at the float with her rendition of the theme itself, “Rising Above”.
