2016 NATIONAL SPORTS DAY ORGANISED BY THE EMBASSY OF MALAYSIA IN WASHINGTON D.C., USA

 

In line with the Malaysian Government’s effort in transforming Malaysia into a sporting and healthier nation, the Embassy of Malaysia in Washington D.C. held its National Sports Day at the Chancery on 8 October 2016.

 

2.         While highlighting the main objective of the sports event is to be healthy, Mission also witnessed that this auspicious event was a venue to bring together all participants to foster closer friendship and goodwill amongst the Embassy’s staff and the Malaysian community.

 

3.         The program began at 9.45 am with national anthem, Negaraku followed by welcoming remarks by Mr. Shaiful Anuar Mohammad, Charge D’ Affaires a.i. The highlight of the event was the presentation of a memento by the cycling team, consisted of 15 cyclists, who started their 35 km’s journey from Vienna, Virginia early in the morning. The arrival of the cycling team was greeted by all the participants at the Embassy and marked the opening of the National Sports Day event.

 

4.         The event, which was participated by more than 120 people, continued with an aerobic session, followed by a 2 km’s fun walk around the International Court, Washington DC. The activities of the National Sports Day continued with futsal and volleyball games held at the NZone Indoor Sports Complex, Chantilly which witnessed great sportsmanship and good team spirit among the participants throughout the event.

 

5.         The event was held in a warm and friendly manner. It was successfully held with the full cooperation of various Malaysian Agencies and PERWAKILAN based in Washington DC.
