Ambassador Dato’ Badruddin Ab Rahman, is a career member of the Malaysian Foreign Service. He became High Commissioner of Malaysia to the Republic of South Africa on 12 October 2015.
Prior to his appointment to Pretoria, Ambassador Dato’ Badruddin Ab Rahman was the Ambassador of Malaysia to Sweden and concurrently accredited to Denmark, Norway and Iceland from September 2011 to September 2015. Dato’ Badruddin has served as the Ambassador of Malaysia to Algeria from March 2005 to August 2008. Ambassador Dato’ Badruddin also served in different capacities in Malaysian missions in Japan, Cambodia and the Philippines between the periods from 1989 to 2001.
Ambassador Dato’ Badruddin Ab Rahman graduated from the University of Malaya in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia in 1981 and joined the Malaysian Foreign Service in 1983. He obtained a post-graduate Diploma in Public Management (DPA) from the National Institute of Public Administration (INTAN), Malaysia in 1982.
In 2008, Ambassador Dato’ Badruddin was awarded with Darjah Dato’ Setia Mahkota Kelantan (DPSK) and subsequently the Kesatria Mangku Negara (KMN) in 2010. He is married to Datin Noormah Mahmud and blessed with four children.
