MALAYSIANS CELEBRATED THE NATIONAL DAY WITH UNITY AND PRIDE
IN DUBAI, UAE

The Consulate General of Malaysia in Dubai, UAE played host to the National Day celebration with Malaysian expatriates at Rumah Malaysia, Al Barsha 2 on 31stAugust 2018, Friday. The event is one of the much anticipated public diplomacy programme organised by the Consulate General of Malaysia, Dubai which aimed to establish rapport with the Malaysian community overseas.
More than 200 Malaysian expatriates together with their families from Dubai and Northern Emirates attended the celebration wearing traditional attires to showcase the multiculturalism among Malaysians. The event began with the energetic rendition of “Negaraku” followed by three patriotic songs namely “Kita Punya Malaysia”, “Sejahtera Malaysia” and “Setia”.
The Malaysian Consul General in Dubai, Dato’ Yubazlan Yusof delivered a short remark and he told everyone that diversity is always Malaysia’s strength. He also informed that Malaysia has overcomed many challenges in the early years in the political, economic, social and cultural aspects and managed to overcome each of it successfully. The core principles of “Rukun Negara” was also touched and explained in the speech and at the same time, the definition of the new Malaysian logo “Sayangi Malaysiaku” was enlightened to the public.
The Consul General finally requested all Malaysians to uphold the true values of Malaysia i.e. respect, tolerant, law abiding and peace loving people. He also urged Malaysians to feel proud of the country and to educate their children to understand the value of independence.
Various Malaysian mouthwatering delicacies such as nasi lemak, mee goreng mamak, capati, idli and deserts were prepared in the spirit of togetherness by Malaysians and the Consulate Office. This event gave an opportunity for Malaysians in Dubai and Northern Emirates to assemble and celebrate National Day together in the fresh spirit of “Malaysia Baru”.
