Effective 1 February 2015, the Government of Malaysia requires that all loss of Malaysian International Passport (PMA) either within the country or abroad to be reported to the local police station.

 

PMA loss may occur due to factors such as willful negligence or accident that cannot be avoided viz. theft, burglary, flood and fire.

 

Therefore, the obligation to report the loss of PMA to the nearest police station is intended to protect personal information and to prevent the document from being misused by unscrupulous international syndicate.
