NOTICE: PASSPORT RENEWAL
As many are aware, there has been a surge in applications for Malaysian passport renewal brought about by Covid-19 travel restrictions. This unprecedented volume has resulted in substantial processing delays.
While we work to address this situation, kindly note the followings:
To legally stay in Australia, you must ensure that you have a valid Australian visa (not expired).
For Australian Permanent Resident Visa Holder
- You may remain in Australia even after your Malaysian passport has expired.
- You may renew your Malaysian passport if you need to travel overseas.
- There is no penalty for having an expired Malaysian passport.
For Australian Temporary Visa Holder
- You may remain in Australia even after your Malaysian passport has expired
- To enable you to renew your Malaysian passport, you must ensure that your Australian visa validity is more than six (6) months.
- There is no penalty for having an expired Malaysian passport.
The High Commission would also like to advise that you only apply for passport renewal if it is necessary.
Your kind understanding and patience on this matter is highly appreciated.
Thank you.
