EXTENSION OF VALIDITY PERIOD FOR MALAYSIA PASSPORT EXPIRING IN 2021

We refer to the announcement by the Malaysian Immigration Department dated 1 June 2021 that Malaysian passports expiring in 2021 are eligible for extension by a period of 2 years, free of charge.

For Malaysians residing in Australia, please note that the following requirements must be fulfilled in order to be granted the extension:

 

1. Hold valid long-term visa in Australia (PR, student visa, working/professional/business visa)

2. Clear from Immigration Blacklist / Suspected List

3. Do not hold dual citizenship

4. Not under Australia Border Force (ABF) investigations/observation/sanctions

 

This two-year passport extension is only available at Non-Passport Issuing Office in Canberra and Perth. As a Passport Issuing Centre, the Melbourne Immigration Office will continue to focus on the processing of new 5-year passport applications.

Those who fulfilled the above requirements, will need to make appointment with either Canberra or Perth Office for the passport extension application.
