RAMADHAN IFTAR WITH OIC GROUP IN CANBERRA, 31 MAY 2019
22 diplomatic missions representing the OIC Group in Canberra jointly organised a Ramadhan Iftar on 31 May 2019 at Old Parliament House, a symbolic place for Australians. The event aimed to gather members of community regardless of their religious background, in sharing the blessing and the noble values of the holy month of Ramadhan. Its success was reflected in the turnout of 250 guests including federal MPs, religious and community leaders, government officials, academicians and diplomats.
Speeches were made by HE Mr Kristiarto Legowo, Ambassador of Indonesia and Chairman of the OIC Heads of Mission Group, and by Mr Tony Sheehan, Deputy Secretary of International Security, Humanitarian and Consular Group, DFAT as the Guest of Honour.
It was a beautiful evening spent as guests mingled while enjoying traditional food served by each participating OIC Member State.
