MALAYSIAN GAMES VICTORIA 2014

 Dubbed the biggest Malaysian sports event in Victoria, Malaysian Games 2014 held from 19-21 April 2014 aim to provide a platform of opportunities for Malaysians especially students to get involved in the community and to enrich their University life.

 

The Games are held annually to select Victoria’s best athletes to represent Victoria in precedence to MASCA’s annual National Conference and Games (NCG) held from 22-24 April 2014, while promoting a healthy lifestyle as well as fostering closer bonds among Malaysians. The Games are open to all Malaysians and feature nine sports which include badminton, netball, volleyball, futsal, tennis, table tennis, basketball, squash and ultimate frisbee. This year, the game saw the participation of 477 students from the whole of Victoria and it was an increase of 25% from that of last year. The Consul General of Malaysia officiated the event last Saturday (19/4/2014) which was held at the Sidney Myer Hall, Melbourne University, Parkville, Melbourne. In his officiating speech Dr Rameez made mention of the need for all Malaysian students in Melbourne to throw out their differences and unite together as 1 Malaysia. He also mentioned about sport being the best medium to unite people in togetherness.
