MHTC was first established under the Ministry of Health Malaysia as a Unit to develop and promote the medical tourism industry, and was privatised in 2009. Ever since its first launch by Prime Minister Dato Seri Najib Tun Razak, the average revenue generated has been on the increase by 15% and exceeding RM 600 million.
