TRAVEL ADVISORY: Repeal of Letter of Understanding [LOU]

 

ENTRY INTO MALAYSIA

All Travellers:

  • Malaysian citizens are allowed to enter. Please make sure you have valid passport / emergency certificate / travel document.
  • Travellers will undergo their quarantine periods in a government-designated quarantine facility at the traveller’s expense.
  • Download, register and activate the MySejahtera app prior to your departure.

Non-Citizens:

  • Prior to entering Malaysia, non-citizens who have obtained the Entry Approval (Issued by Malaysian Immigration in Malaysia, apply here- https://mtp.imi.gov.my/myTravelPass/main) are encouraged to undergo a COVID-19 PCR test abroad within 3 days (72 hours) before arrival. The charges (applicable for a non-Malaysian traveller) for the COVID-19 screening test and quarantine must be paid in advance before arrival. The charges can be paid online using mobile or portal.

LETTER OF UNDERSTANDING (LOU) AND TRAVEL NOTICE (TN)

Effective 1 May 2021, all travellers to Malaysia are no longer required to submit LOU to the Malaysian Embassy/High Commission/Consulate General. As such, there will be no more issuance of TN for flights arriving from 1st May 2021 onwards.

 

QUARANTINE 

All international arrivals are subject to 14 days quarantine in a government-managed facility on arrival with the possibility of a further seven days quarantine, depending on the outcome of a risk assessment by local authorities. Cost for standard package RM150/per day for one person.  No booking required for the standard package. For citizens, the cost for the standard package can be paid before arrival or during the check-in process. Credit card/debit card usage is encouraged. The charges (applicable for a non-Malaysian traveler) for the COVID-19 screening test and quarantine must be paid in advance before arrival.

 

PAYMENT FOR COVID-19 TEST/QUARANTINE

Making payment for COVID-19 Test/Quarantine hotel before departure online. Upon completion of payment, travelers will be provided with the QR code that is used by the Government of Malaysia for entry verification. 

 

AUSTRALIAN PR

Australian citizens and permanent residents must secure ABF approval to depart prior to booking and only Malaysian citizens etc. are permitted entry to Malaysia. 

 

DEPART FROM MALAYSIA

All travellers exiting Malaysia, please get your approval from Malaysian Immigration in Malaysia via online: https://mtp.imi.gov.my/myTravelPass/main

 

 

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION

A temporary ban on flights to and from India is in place. All passengers from India, except for Malaysian citizens, are not permitted to enter or transit Malaysia. The exemption for holders of expired Social Visit Passes ceased on 21 April 2021. Malaysian Citizens returning from India are subjected to 14 days mandatory quarantine.
