The Consulate General of Malaysia, Perth in collaboration with Perth Golf Kakis (PGK), a local social golf club hosted the 2021 Agong’s Trophy Golf Tournament on 7th June 2021 (Monday) at the Hamersley Golf Course. The event was held to commemorate the Official Birthday celebration of His Majesty the Yang di-Pertuan Agong, King of Malaysia which falls on the first Monday in the month of June, every year. The event this year marks a double celebration for Malaysians and friends of Malaysia in Western Australia as the day coincidentally marks the Western Australia Day celebration. The previous event to commemorate this special day was held in 2012.

 

While observing the health guidelines in WA, the idea to revive the golf event in conjunction with the Malaysia King’s Birthday was mooted to benefit fellow community, enabling members to mingle and socialize while relishing one of the popular sports in Western Australia.

 

The event on 7th June concluded with a total of 44 golfers from various nationalities and our gratitude to the sponsors, volunteers, Malaysian students, Malaysian owned businesses as well as various international cohorts in Perth in ensuring the smooth and meaningful commemoration of the Birthday of His Majesty the King of Malaysia and the Western Australia Day celebration.
