Announcement - Extension of Validity Period for Malaysia Passport Expiring in 2021

We refer to the announcement made by the Malaysian Immigration Department dated 1 June 2021 that Malaysian passports expiring in 2021 are eligible for a passport extension for a period of two (2) years and it is free of charge.

For Malaysians residing in Australia, please note that the following requirements must be fulfilled in order to be granted for the passport extension:

1. Hold a valid long-term visa in Australia (PR, student visa, working/professional/business visa);
2. Clear from Immigration Blacklist / Suspected List;
3. Do not hold dual citizenship; and
4. Not under Australia Border Force (ABF) investigations/observation/sanctions.

This two-year passport extension is only available in Canberra and Perth. As a Passport Issuing Centre, the Melbourne Immigration Office will continue to focus on processing 5-year passport renewal applications.

Those who fulfilled the above requirements can walk-in to the Consulate General of Malaysia, Perth during our Consular hours, 9.00 am – 1.00 pm (Monday-Thursday) and 9.00 am – 12.30 pm (Friday). You may collect your passport within 2-3 days.
