Building Bridges – Harmony Day, Busselton, 14 March 2021
Consul General and Consul have been invited to the 'Building Bridges - Harmony Day' event at the ArtGeo Cultural Precinct Busselton held on 14 March 2021. The annual event was organized by the Intercultural Action Group Inc with the support from the Department of Local Government, Sport and Cultural Industries and the City of Busselton. The Mayor of the City of Busselton was also in attendance.
The event saw participation from performers representing multifaceted societies namely the Malay, Indian, Spanish, Australian Aboriginal community and Ghana. It was held mainly to recognize the multicultural diversity in Australia and has created the opportunity for the participants to share their unique culture and traditions with the broader Western Australian community.
Busselton is a city on the southwest tip of Western Australia approximately over 200km from Perth. It is known for its sheltered beach and seasonal humpback whale populations. The beachfront features the 150-years old Busselton Jetty. This wood pier jetty stretches nearly 2km to the Underwater Observatory which is one of only six underwater observatories in the world. The main income of the city is hospitality and aquaculture sectors and it is also home to a Malaysian based company venture namely the Bayview Geographe Resort which has a sister hotel in Langkawi.
